Re: Dear ViewSonic: Please Add 60 Hz Single-Strobe for PureXP on XG270

This would be a fantastic value add. You can fake it on PC using software (retroarch has a built in black frame insertion mode which works quite well) but this would still be great for connecting to consoles, or playing PC games that are locked to 60fps or play better at 60fps. The best 60hz strobin...

Re: Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

I started sleuthing around a bit to try and get some answers to minor questions I'd had about this monitor. TFTCentral did a review on the Acer Nitro XV273 X which has a 240hz 1920x1080 IPS panel, and they listed this panel as being inside of it - M270HAN03.0 I used the search tool on Panelook and i...

Re: Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

B07VL5SNG8 I wish RTings / TFTcentral were tracking this monitor a little more closely. I can accept at face value that 120hz PureXP+ is good, but it'd be nice to know stuff like what the actual contrast ratio is (with and without backlight strobing), or what the overshoot / response times look lik...

Re: Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

Is there native 60hz strobing support for external sources where a black frame insertion / software solution isn't possible? For example, a console that outputs 60hz. I know this would come with effectively more than CRT flicker (i've done custom resolution "hacks" on my PG279q to use ULMB on games ...

Re: LG 27GK750F-B - 240Hz, 27" 1ms Blur reduction, Freesync

I knew you'd have to sacrifice some contrast to get better color representation, but having to drop down to 600 and some change is crazy lol It looks like the crazy uneven green push is a universal constant of that panel, at least judging by my personal experience and at least two professional reviews

Re: Monitor advice thread / followup thoughts

Nearly 1 month later, I am still very happy with this monitor and its performance. My experience with the Samsung va led me to believe that ULMB would be an important feature, but I simply haven't used it at all. Backlight bleed has nearly completely dissipated. It was very subtle to begin with and ...

Re: help me choose (1080p,144hz gsync),1440p/1080p,60hz

I had a CFG70, one of the earlier models. The big stink about 'purple trails' has to do with how Samsung tuned the pixel overdrive settings. The earlier models were too aggressive, and this resulted in inverted color artifacts trailing behind objects of certain colors, though it seems to affect dark...

Re: Difficult choice! [ASUS MG279Q or Dell S2716DG?]

The two monitors have fairly different panels and capabilities that make them more suited to different use cases. The different panel technologies also come with various pros and cons, completely independent of the technology supported by the underlying electronics (variable refresh rates, backlight...

Re: Trying to decide on a new monitor

Yeah. It'd be nice to at least try. Had a minor image retention scare yesterday. I tried out the Black Frame Insertion mode of Retroarch. After only a few minutes of a 4:3 arcade game, there was some pretty substantial image burn-in. I gave it about 10 minutes of 'exercise' with an RGB pattern video...
