Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
Glide, does the monitor say it is in GSYNC mode or fixed-Hz mode? Does borderless windowed tearing happen for you in either mode for you? G-Sync will activate, even if G-Sync is set to Fullscreen Only mode, not Fullscreen + Windowed. Tearing only happens with the fullscreen optimizations enabled, a...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
1. I had been testing with G-Sync disabled, since I was only checking for tearing in Borderless Windowed Mode. Right, but if you enable V-Sync in Dishonored 2 , you can break past the 120 FPS limit. I can replicate the in-game V-SYNC quirk with G-SYNC, but I can't replicate the tearing you are seei...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
Yes, as a general rule you don't want in-game V-Sync or non-adjustable framerate limiters to be enabled. But there are some games where the framerate limiter is required - Dishonored 2 and Soma have bad frame-pacing issues if you go beyond 60 FPS. While other games are capped to 60 FPS for no appare...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
Out of curiosity, does the same happen if you set vsync to on in nvcp? Does then toggling in-game vsync off/on result in the FPS lock/unlock? Also, have you tested without g-sync? Disable g-sync, run in 144Hz mode. Does enabling in-game vsync do the same thing? Yes, it also happens if V-Sync is on ...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
For Dishonored 2, you can disable in-game V-SYNC, enabled it in the control panel, and leave the in-game framerate limiter on. This should work as intended. Right, but if you enable V-Sync in Dishonored 2 , you can break past the 120 FPS limit. Now that's maybe not the best example because Dishonor...

Re: G-Sync with DirectDraw games
Oh, I thought it must have been "working" since the monitor was at least reporting something in the 40Hz range instead of being locked to 100Hz. DXGL seems to do the trick though. I haven't spent any real time with the games yet, so I can't confirm if things are going to be problem-free all the way ...

G-Sync with DirectDraw games
I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to improve the performance of G-Sync with DirectDraw games. An example of what I'm talking about is Adventure Game Studio games . While many of those games have an option for a D3D9 renderer, on Win10 CU I just get a black screen and have to fall back to the ...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
Oh, something else I forgot to mention: You say that it's always best to disable V-Sync in games, using NVCP V-Sync instead, and while that's generally true there can be some exceptions to that. Some games have framerate limiters in place for whatever reason, even though they may not be required. An...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
Specific settings that allow it to tear in borderless or windowed? Do you have Overwatch, and if so, can/did you test in it? 1. Is G-SYNC in fullscreen or borderless/windowed mode in the control panel? 2. Is Game Mode enabled in both the Windows Settings and in-game via the Game Bar? 3. I assume fu...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
I'm glad I did include it, but I could not replicate that behavior. It would be interesting to know more details about your system specs, driver versions, OS version and settings though. Not sure there's much to tell. Ryzen 1700X paired with a GTX 1070, display is a PG348Q. It was a clean install o...
