Re: I have the new Razer 8000 Hz prototype gaming mouse on my desk.

0.2ms is the "switch actuation time" i.e. the amount of time required for the switch to generate an electrical signal that gets sent to the mcu, compared to 0.6ms that a mechanical switch takes (typically). That is not the click latency, because the signal still has to go through the mcu and to the...

Re: I have the new Razer 8000 Hz prototype gaming mouse on my desk.

Every company says it has low click latency. I mean no disrespect to Razer or TheFiend but I rather get it from a 3rd party. Unless the devs screw up badly, optical switches are going to have pretty low latency by nature of not needing to debounce... And as I mentioned above, you can't trust accura...

Re: I have the new Razer 8000 Hz prototype gaming mouse on my desk.

Could anyone provide data regarding the Viper 8k's click latency? [...] If a mouse doesn't fall on the first page it's basically invisible to me. I am also curious, given how cheap / early some of the mice near the top are, what is preventing companies from putting emphasis on achieving lowest poss...

Re: I have the new Razer 8000 Hz prototype gaming mouse on my desk.

i put real time and high io priority on the thing and still notice 8k+, even a 10k read, but the adjacent number is a 6k, so I guess that evens out lol. Realtime process priority is just a high priority. Standard Windows is still not a RTOS. Keep in mind that process priorities are just relative at...

All combined, it's normal to see poll counters vary by about 5-10% because of Windows non-RTOS weak links. Not the mouse' fault.
Yeah, not surprised at all. Just more factors people need to take into consideration when questioning metrics.

Re: I have the new Razer 8000 Hz prototype gaming mouse on my desk.

I gotta correct myself and you here a bit I think it actually depend on pixel per second moved, so dps/pps, not dpi or edpi or whatever. since we are talking effective reports per second or the Razer_theFiend disapproved "hz" xd. I still don't know why Mouse Movement Recorder goes above 8k "reads" ...

Re: I have the new Razer 8000 Hz prototype gaming mouse on my desk.

So, just my perspective regarding some of these tests/metrics regarding the misleading "avg polling rate". If by design the mouse only sends movement data as necessary up to the maximum rate of 8kHz, why are people concerned that not moving the mouse enough results in a non-constant 8kHz rate of dat...

Re: Reduce Input Delay (Mouse & Keyboard Buffer Size)

I wouldn't bash his suggestion for disabling CPU idle because in theory it can have merits. I've been running with latency optimized BIOS and Windows power plan settings for a very long time now (C-states disabled in BIOS, disable core parking, adjusting various promote/demote thresholds, etc.). He ...

I agree, never really felt like RJN was the smartest guy on the platform. I love how he still brags about being so good at a game like Quake Champions that NOONE plays. While showing clip after clip of him destroying likely terribly bad players Yeah, he's got some things right & other things wrong ...

I don't think I found any actual photodiode yet. i've ordered some stuff from aliexpress, but it still hasn't come :D There are numerous photodiodes here: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/filter/optical-sensors-photodiodes/543 This one may be suitable and is cheap: https://www.digikey.com/en/pro...
