Re: LG demos 4K true 120Hz OLED TV
120hz BFI flicker is barely visible to me too, but I can somewhat notice it and it's only OK. The motion clarity improvement is significant though, for sure. I'd still prefer 120 fps @ 240hz.

Re: Nvidia GPU GTX 20XX Series likely revealed @ Gamescom 20
I really don't care much about how a game looks . The most important thing is how a game plays. And with a lower frame rate, many games don't play well. Jensen Huang can say "wow" all he wants, but when it comes down to it, if enabling RTX in a game cuts its frame rate in half, it is completely use...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK7lL3E2LVc&t=3m12s (Video about dev's showing ray tracing in Metro Exodus, BFV etc) If only HDR FALD came out 3 years earlier so we could get lower prices, ray tracing would make dark environments look spectacular, like in the timestamp above. People that have high ...

Re: Nvidia GPU GTX 20XX Series likely revealed @ Gamescom 20
I am just pointing out that for most developers, consoles is a huge market that they will mostly design their game around. And for a modern game with demanding aesthetics (IE, high production value), it is the reason they can even exist in the first place. As a former AAA dev, I see some truth in t...

Re: Visible advantages of higher refresh rate on windows
I love 120hz so much, can't wait to get a projector that has it since I watch most of my content via my PC on my current 1080p DLP. The latest crop of 4K-ish DLPs have 1080p 120hz native input. Dragging windows around, playing games, watching shows with smoothing on, everything rocks at 120hz, altho...

Re: When do the good 21:9 screens arrive? (or what do i buy
I'm also eager to get a 21:9 aspect ratio 4K-ish monitor, hopefully 3840 x 1600 which is what most UHD Blurays are, so see them in 1:1 (with vertical cropping if they are higher than 1600 vertically since the exact height varies quite a bit from one movie to another). I do a lot of coding too and pr...

Re: Nvidia GPU GTX 20XX Series likely revealed @ Gamescom 20
I agree that any time you have a high end graphics option it won't be used as much in competitive FPS shooters, but many people, especially those with variable refresh rates, would prefer half the framerate but more than twice the image quality and realism, which is exactly what ray tracing offers. ...

By the way, it's not just ray tracing performance that's gotten a huge boost, rasterization is also increased by a big factor too:

Re: Nvidia GPU GTX 20XX Series likely revealed @ Gamescom 20
I'm picking up a pair of 2080 Tis the second they are available. :) These cards are super exciting to me because I'm doing ray tracing research and making my own indie games using RTX. Check out these pics of Battlefield V with RTX reflections activated: https://twitter.com/EA_DICE/status/1031894972...

Re: Freesync with Nvidia
IF NVidia can patch this out. I'm not entirely sure, because you can always use a different GPU for rendering than the one connected to the display. Windows internally takes care of surface sharing and duplication. I guess they use v-sync off? I mean, if you don't have a G-sync monitor attached to t...
