Want to do the ufo tests with my smartphone but all apps i tried only allow minimal exposure of 1s.

I don't think that's possible. The drivers (wich you cannot install) are the ones that make FreeSync work so even if you can enable it in the monitor it wouldn't do anything because there is no way to communicate with the video card. Previously you used it at 120hz right? That may be the reason why it was worse than now at 165hz. A lot of monitors are not optimized for anything different from their actual out of the box refresh rate. For example, most 144hz monitors are really bad at 60hz. Maybe this model is not as good at 120...
