Re: Samsung 2013/14 line 1080p/120hz overclocking [Samsung H

There are ONLY two displays that I know of that are 40" or larger that can take a 1080p120 signal from a computer.

#1: Seiki 50"
#2: PPI/MicroSoft 55" -- ten touch "Big Ass Touch Screen."

That's *IT* right now unless someone can tell me another one!

Re: Samsung 2013/14 line 1080p/120hz overclocking [Samsung H

I don't know if I will be happy or sad if the 32" does 120Hz but the 40" does not. It would be the opposite of the Seiki 39" vs 50" issue. Even at 76Hz, it is frame-skipping to get there on my 40". Hopefully I just need to do something different because I really would like to get a true 120hz from t...

Here's an excerpt from his second edition of his book where he mentions his work.

Re: Awesome a forum! [+Intro of myself, and my LCD work]

ASUS and BenQ and even Sony making some strobing solutions is progress. But truly, we need a much higher percentage of displays with HDMI inputs to have options for better motion portrayal and higher framerates. I think you mean DisplayPort, unless you meant HDMI 2.0? ;) What I am saying is that th...

Re: Samsung 2013/14 line 1080p/120hz overclocking [Samsung H

My UN40F6300 would only go up to 76Hz before being unable to accept the signal. I am using an NVidia 770 card that is easily able to drive my Seiki 50" display at 1080p120. This was disappointing, but I am hopeful that someone can tell me if there is a way to drive it at a faster rate. It would be i...

Re: Awesome a forum! [+Intro of myself, and my LCD work]

You know, I don't know a lot of people who have experience with timing controllers and other low-level parts of the electronics of displays. But that may change! These problems are going to get solved if we have to start from scratch in order to do it. But I would hope that we can tackle language an...

Charles Poynton [display visionary] - do you know who he is?

Over the last 6+ years, I have made a lot of efforts to get the word out about motion artifacts with sample-and-hold and lower framerate display technologies. But I stood on the shoulders on this great man, Charles Poynton, in order to see what it is that I saw and share it through Wikipedia. http:/...

Re: BENQ XL2720Z 27" of goodness :)

The ultimate display is going to appear to the eye to be more like a CRT with a top-to-bottom scan process. In addition, the waveform of the brightness of the lit pixel should also fade leaving a faint trail in the retina. The eye's sensitivity to light is not linear with brightness. It is for this ...

Re: Awesome a forum! [+Intro of myself, and my LCD work]

I just sent an e-mail to a Seiki representative inviting them to participate with me, Mark, and Cirthix in helping to push further with what Seiki is doing. It can be very tricky dealing with other cultures in business, and I think this spans the gamut of cultures forming some teamwork between all t...
