Re: Sub-pixels and AG coating
back to original questions: Can the actual structure/shape of sub-pixels also contribute to a sharp crystal clear image?? Take a look at this very interesting article I found: Is this even worth stressing over realistically? A higher fill factor looks less aliased. i.e. ..rrr.ggg.bbb.. looks smoothe...

Re: Eizo FG2421
quick question: for the fg2421, does the top-to-bottom scan take 1/240s or 1/120s?

Re: high fps input lag
assume I want to run my game fullscreen on a gsync monitor If my game runs between 30 and 144 fps, the best way would be to turn vsync off and there would be no tearing because of gsync (this is my current understanding of gsync) If my game runs consistently above 144fps, should I set vsync on or of...

Re: Sub-pixels and AG coating
ClearType (which would be redundant on Pentile screens anyways), 4:2:2 chroma subsampling, Bayer and ZigZag color filters, etc. ugh how many times do I have to explain this. chroma subsampling (4:2:2, 4:2:0, 4:1:1), bayer, other color filters: these are removing color information at pixels. that's ...

Re: Eizo FG2421
Is it possible to hack this monitor so that it actually does 240hz?

Re: high fps input lag
During GSYNC rate of 30fps-144fps, GSYNC is the same as VSYNC OFF, within a 1ms difference (the GSYNC poll time). Not sure about this. It's theoretically possible but there could potentially be excessive buffering in the drivers or the game itself. And afaik that always seems to be the case, except...

Re: Sub-pixels and AG coating
The logic behind cleartype is to take into account subpixels for finer spatial antialiasing. The logic behind pentile is that since green subpixels are the most important, you can throw away some red and blue subpixels without too much loss in quality. Theyre completely different things and pentile ...

high fps input lag [if GSYNC caps out?]
Does gsync help input lag at all when fps is higher than refresh rate (when the refresh rate is set to the maximum supported by the monitor)? The current situation is that you can either have vsync off: minimal input lag but a bit of tearing vsync on: no tearing but at least 2 refresh period's worth...

Re: Sub-pixels and AG coating
There have been those that have mentioned you can see detail even smaller, in an indirect manner. Here's a TestUFO animation: TestUFO Aliasing Visibility Test With this animation That isn't gamma corrected so it really doesn't mean much that you can see aliasing. The non uniformity in that animatio...
