Re: Best Twitch-Type Gaming LCD?

I've also played Natural Selection 2 for a long time now. :D I have the ASUS VG248QE and I wholeheartedly recommend it for NS2. It meets all of your requirements. It's great since you can use LightBoost with a simple tweak and LightBoost will work with both Nvidia and AMD video cards. As you know, f...

Re: Need 1000fps@1000Hz for 1ms persistence without strobing

I was wondering what this stroboscopic effect was called for quite some time while playing FPS games. When I panned my view in-game very fast on my VG248QE, my surroundings seemed to literally multiply in the direction of the pan. I tested this with LightBoost 100/120 Hz @ 10% and had no idea whethe...

Now for a Lightboost at 144hz vs ULMB at 120hz comparison ;)
LightBoost is limited between 100 to 120 Hz. :P

Re: ULMB vs. Lightboost

but its disadvantage is variable motion blur, which worsens as frame rates drop. The way you phrased it, sounds bad. ;) So let's clarify things. I must point out it is not a disadvantage at all relative to non-LightBoost. However, the fact that it doesn't eliminate motion blur, is, indeed a disadva...

Re: EXCLUSIVE: We measure G-SYNC Input Lag in GSYNC Preview

Hm, so ULMB lacks the strobe length setting... Well that's a downer. You mentioned the brightness is the same as LightBoost=100%, so ULMB 100 Hz would result in 2.8 ms (3~ pixels) of motion blur according to this page ? Do you think that adding a strobe length setting would be possible through...

Re: ULMB vs. Lightboost

I think it's more a matter of ULMB being all-round better in terms of motion blur, but ONLY if you're matching frame rate for refresh rate (solid 120fps@120hz or 144fps@144hz). In the 45-90fps range, however, G-Sync is the better solution. ULMB is only really worth it for folks who: 1) Will willing...

Re: ULMB vs. Lightboost

I find it strange that people are quiet about ULMB while G-Sync has already been professionally reviewed by a number of sites. After all, isn't G-Sync the main attraction of the upgrade kit/pre-built monitors as opposed to ULMB? Is this possibly a marketing stunt for separate, professional ULMB revi...

Re: DIY kits are now available!

After watching the video, I'm not looking forward to this mod. Break open a case with a shim, peel tape that has to be reused, and reattach ribbon cables? These are three things I dislike in mods. Well, on equipment that I paid for anyway. Perhaps it's the high cost making me sour. On the other han...

Re: Leaving Lightboost On

This is from the LightBoost FAQ : Q: Does LightBoost shorten the life of the monitor’s backlight? No. LightBoost is a built-in function of a monitor. It is a part of nVidia 3D Vision. LED’s do not undergo meaningful wear and tear by being turned on/off, when done within the LED’s power specification...

That is quite generous of you, Chief Blur Buster! I wonder how many of the entrants are still watching this thread to see the consolation prize? No really, this is so generous of you. It's perfect since I recently ordered an EVGA GTX 780 Classified and discovered that Newegg listed its length as 10...
