If you can make it happen again try and change the monitors contrast and see if it goes away, my Alienware did that and was real odd, not sure why changing the contrast up or down 1 click removes it anyway. I wonder if the 360hz panels will have this issue too, didn't notice it on my 280hz Asus yet...

Maybe the pixel clock of the AMD R9 290x doesn't go high enough for above 240hz
