Re: OLED BFI Options?

I think we will have to wait till 480 Hz OLEDs for 240Hz+BFI. Currently, only VR OLEDs (e.g. PSVR2) is capable of hardware based sub-refresh BFI. Is it correct to say that 480Hz OLED displays will have less motion clarity than the current 360Hz IPS with ULMB 2? I assume these OLEDs will only be abl...

Re: ULMB 2 Released

as this in theory is not a driver level but monitor level, should even work with radeon devices, making the choice of a monitor with gsync obvious even if you don't have a nvidia card isn't it? Historically, the G-Sync module specific "ULMB" method of BFI has required an Nvidia card to activate. As...

Re: Xeneon 27 OLED

Early impressions style reviews are suggesting it's not any brighter than the other monitors using the same panel, even though corsair is pushing hard in their marketing that the panel is confirmed to be using LG's MLA tech. This suggests to me that in place of offering higher peak or sustained brig...

Re: VRR Gamma w/ OLED and Workarounds

No known fix, at least not any that have been publicly disclosed. Even reviewers that first drew attention to this OLED characteristic no longer mention it in reviews for newer OLED tvs/monitors. If you want a stable VRR image, your only options are LCD based displays. If you want better colors and ...

Re: OLED BFI Options?

So eve monitors, apparently now called Dough is doing some half software- half hardware bfi at 120hz, and maybe 80hz later on https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1683706450 I wonder if this is what Chief alluded to (that they're working on a 240hz oled with bfi at 120), but ...

Re: ViewSonic XG2431 Discussion Thread [Blur Busters Approved XG2431 - 24" 240Hz IPS with Best Strobing]

Did some more experimenting with the XG2431 when connected to a Steam deck, using Windows as my testing environment. The drivers in Windows aren't very mature (or maybe there's a hardware limitation I'm not understanding...), so the function in CRU to restart the GPU driver doesn't work as you'd exp...

Re: LG 27" 1440p 240hz OLED Ultragear 27GR95QE

Most OLED tv/monitors will run cleaning cycles on a schedule of their own and you don't have to think about it. For example, the LG TVs run quick cycles after 4/8 hour increments and a much longer one after hitting a larger threshold of hundreds or even thousands of hours (depends on which exact mod...

Re: [TFT Central] Monitor OLED Panel Roadmap Updates

The 480hz oled panel intrigues me. It's very impractical to hit those framerates in anything but esports games right now (csgo, apex, rocket league, r6siege, etc) I know the Chief said he was assisting with bfi for upcoming oled panels in a way we're not going to see in this year's 240hz models, but...

Re: HOWTO: Settings For Full Panel Crosstalk-Free Low-Lag Strobing (ViewSonic XG2431)

Did a bunch of experimenting on the steam deck with this monitor Can't seem to get custom resolutions to stick. The APU and usb-c output can handle high refresh rates / high pixel clocks in general, but dialing in custom resolutions that I knew worked on my main desktop pc don't. As soon as I restar...

Re: OLED BFI Options?

OLED has only 4 ms MPRT!? Bad... We want 0.5 or lower. Lower is always better, naturally I know that OLED panels struggle to come out of black without flickering or overshoot artifacts. LG and Samsung have their own methodology to solve this for their displays, but I suspect that it is partially de...
