Re: [TFT Central] Monitor OLED Panel Roadmap Updates
Chief, I'm pretty sure we all kow that by now  We were talking about Sample-and-Hold matching FW900 480fps@480hz OLED doesn't match FW900 since 480hz is about 2.08ms + about 0.6ms of pixel response time or so(no matter what people say about OLED being 0 response time it's bullshit since it's a...

Re: [TFT Central] Monitor OLED Panel Roadmap Updates
1000/720 = 1.39ms or about 0.61ms faster than the FW900 CRT or any CRT that used the SMPTC(2millisecond phosphors), as far as I'm aware the Ultra-Fast SMPTC 2,000FPS/2,000Hz(500 microsecond) phosphors were going to be used in the future. I'm sure a Hypothetical Sony GDM-FW1000 would have used it. T...

Re: How Is OLED Technology Considered "Good"?
LG OLED "Real Cinema" mode already does something similar for 24 FPS content by repeating each frame 5 times for 5:5 "pulldown" at 120Hz, but it just prevents stutter (uneven frame delivery), not sample-and-hold judder. No, what I was talking about is different. Look at most video games which for e...

Re: How Is OLED Technology Considered "Good"?
It's definitely a less stuttery experience on a CRT compared to Sample-And-Hold OLED. The double image effect masks it a little bit. Also if the CRT has a longer persistence phosphor like a lot of consumer TVs did that can help a bit too. Of course the smaller screens can help as well. Technically i...

Re: How Is OLED Technology Considered "Good"?
As for black frame insertion, no, it doesn't really mitigate this particular form of judder on low framerate content. BFI DOES mitigate the stutter. At the cost of double-image effect though and you need exact multiple of the reresh rate(71.928hz, 72hz, 96hz etc.). This is just like CRTs, they neve...

Re: What is the Future of BFI as a Feature?
We've got several projects in the pipeline including a 1000fps white paper to educate game developers; This needs to especially be made clear to indie developers(just because you're working on a 2D pixel art game doesn't mean 60fps is enough ffs) and ESPECIALLY Japanese Developers who are so stuck ...

Re: LG 27" 1440p 240hz OLED Ultragear 27GR95QE
then demand for strobing will fall quite a bit except for retro content and video content, ala 60 years of retro 60fps 60Hz content. However, even within specific OLED backplane limitations, I'd still like to see 60Hz 4ms MPRT and 120Hz 4ms MPRT strobing support added to 240Hz OLEDs as soon as poss...
