Re: Challenges in building a 10 bit display (or higher)

Hello there, what LCD technology are you being refer to ? IPS and (at a least extent VA) are relatively easy to make 10-bits precision TN can achieve 6-bit precision and up to 8-bit with dithering or some other hack, but by their principe, TN has NOT to be that so precise, they are fast by conceptio...

Re: BENQ XL2720Z 27" of goodness :)

so you mean there's less strobetalk on a Lightboost/ULMB monitor than in the motion blur technology from Z series ? (with or without tweaking)
it makes me more hesitating about a new monitor !

Re: Successful Overclock 60Hz -> 180Hz of Laptop LCD!

just one question, is there any TN panel upcoming featuring sub 1ms range GTG ? (will it be a great change ?)
i think it would be better to work their worst-case pixel transition !
also are the XL2420Z and the XL2411Z coming with the new firmware ?

Re: Successful Overclock 60Hz -> 180Hz of Laptop LCD!

Too bad... Not necessarily; it just lowers your max strobeable refresh rate, and that number may still be much higher than 60Hz! Strobing may actually work well on your laptop LCD at ~120-150Hz on your LCD, if you do these tricks: (1) Enlarge your Vertical Total to give you a longer 2 millisecond "...

Re: Successful Overclock 60Hz -> 180Hz of Laptop LCD!

Too bad...
i saw 8/9 light power from backlight are blocked from liquid crystal combined with color filters, it would mean with a 100% emissive display ( like OLED ), strobing won't be a problem for highers refresh rate
there's also PHOLED whom could reach 100% efficiency, beating easily CRT display

Re: Successful Overclock 60Hz -> 180Hz of Laptop LCD!

i would still consider modding a XL2411/XL2420Z and then strobe it to 200+hz, it'll show a much better effect ( GTG is enough small to allow a blank period ) also a remarkable thing : if i dont plug it on battery charger my pc starts to ramdomly immediate shutdown... in the news you could also say t...

But can you please tell me the specs, since you said you did no hardware modifications? -> What is your laptop model? -> Are y...

here are videos, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ODFZknRK1I ( 180hz ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKeWx-06V5c ( 200hz, though some syncs problems, but it works ! ) i guess the fps drops is caused by running systems service, and i'm using windows 8 so its quite heavy. i will try to connect a vga t...

Re: Overclockable monitors [laptop LCD overclocking]

yeah i know it but it is not for real business, high frequency is useless without low pixel transition time, it would be still quite a lot of motion blur
i'm better off buying a real monitor made for this.
