Another monitor that vanishes off the planet. God the display industry sucks.

Re: Freesync with Nvidia
It's no longer necessary to use this trick -- NVIDIA now directly supports FreeSync via the "G-SYNC Compatible" mode. The latest drivers make it much easier. That said, it only works over a DisplayPort cable, not an HDMI cable. Potentially, an adaptor device with a DisplayID/EDID translator, might ...

Re: Strobed FreeSync now available! Simultaneously.
Definitely wasn't expecting this. I bet everyone on this forum will end up with this monitor!
Then again, it's ASUS. Which means the monitor is still two years away. Their reveal to shelf time is INSANE these days.

Re: How do OLEDs with/without BFI compare to gaming monitors
T Typically, most OLED BFI is only in 50% granularity (8ms persistence steps), though the new 2019 LG OLEDs can do BFI in 25% granularity at 60Hz and 50% granularity at 120Hz (4ms persistence steps) Unfortunately, it seems the 2019 models does not have the new BFI as seen in CES. Due to last minute...

Re: Sensitivity to PWM = sensitivity to DyAc?
From my experience, PWM gives me quite the eye-strain and strobing like ULMB and DyAc doesn't. I chalk this up to strobing is usually timed perfectly to strobe once per frame right at the best/clearest moment of pixel/frame transition. In crappy PWM displays, the PWM controller is independent of the...

Re: How do OLEDs with/without BFI compare to gaming monitors
I've tested this on my LG C8 OLED versus my 165 Hz 1440p TN. With the OLED set to 1080p 120 Hz, the OLED pixels are so fast (sample and hold in this case) that I can see each individual frame. It doesn't "appear" as smooth as say the TN panel set to 1080p/120 Hz because even a fast TN will "smear" t...

Re: Frame times dont match with frame rate, causing stutteri
Golden! VRR for the win. Get the stutters down to an acceptable level, then use VRR to band-aid the rest of the stuff away. VRR to sweep all of this stutter FUD under the rug. Call it a day. :D *grabs broom* Ya but needing 1000 Hz sample and hold to get the same motion clarity as 100 Hz with a 1ms ...

Re: Frame times dont match with frame rate, causing stutteri
I've noticed more and more in modern games there are larger FPS swings and less well paced frames. This basically necessitates VRR which means ruling out strobing/BFI as a viable way to get motion clarity unfortunately.

Re: AUO 240Hz 0,5ms coming anytime soon?
IMO the only interesting smaller gaming monitor coming out is the 27" 1440p 0.5ms 240 Hz Lenovo Legion: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories-and-monitors/monitors/gaming/Lenovo-Legion-Y27gq-Monitor/p/DD116LPY27G Everything else is still stuck at the same resolution and refresh rates as many year...

Re: Why I'm done with 240hz
I agree with the OP. CPU utilization is all over the map in newer games depending on what is being rendered. Gone are the old days of Quake or Counterstrike where you can lock on the highest refresh/FPS and not worry about it. (unless you still play those games of course!) IMO, based on where games ...
