Re: EXCLUSIVE: We have a 480 Hz monitor!

Doesn't it look weird whenever the frame rate drop though? (fluctuation in flicker/brightness) Not really. For example, I played part of the new DOOM in 2D, using G-Sync+ULMB. Some cutscenes are capped at 60fps and just there I noticed a bit that brightness changed. The rest of the time I was mostl...

Re: EXCLUSIVE: We have a 480 Hz monitor!

You said this in that post: 3) Backlight Strobing is currently incompatible with variable refresh rate technologies such as Gsync and Freesync. And it will be a challenge to make the the two technologies work together while guaranteeing a decent experience. You will get variance in flicker visibilit...

Re: EXCLUSIVE: We have a 480 Hz monitor!

Already we can read gems like " 480hz is so far past the point of diminishing returns " and " that sounds like the definition of the placebo effect if I've ever heard one " Hahaha, we are far from that. Nothing will be perfect until the fastest movement in any game moves at 1 pixel per frame...

Re: ULMB 60Hz Guide

My PG278Q (original) does not like custom refresh rates. Only the overclocking-supported models (165Hz) does. My PG278QR didn't seem to like it either, until RealNC discovered this. Is this an artificial pixel clock ranges limitation that we are exploiting? You'll need to stick to TN panels though....

Re: ULMB 60Hz Guide

In ToastyX, have you tried shifting pixels between Vertical Front Porch / Vertical Back Porch to shift the "crosstalk band" up/down at http://www.testufo.com/crosstalk For other CRU such as NVIDIA, Back Porch may not be displayed -- it is calculated automatically. To do the same, try increasing/dec...

Re: ULMB 60Hz Guide

Wow, this is great! With this same principle, I could create ULMB resolutions up to 127Hz on my Asus PG278QR, using the Nvidia Control Panel. Although for G-Sync + ULMB use, 126Hz and above showed an issue (black screen for brief moments) when a game tried to reach that fps limit. So I settled for 1...

Re: G-Sync and ULMB at the same time is in fact possible!

I don't feel confident about doing that and also wouldn't know where to start (I know others did it with other monitors, I saw it in this website years ago). I also don't want to risk breaking a monitor this expensive :( . I edited my previous post to add that 84, 85 and 86 Hz are also valid (edit: ...

Re: G-Sync and ULMB at the same time is in fact possible!

Another discovery  ! In my monitor, Asus PG278QR, I can create custom resolutions at 99Hz, 119Hz and 121Hz (edit: also valid at 84-86Hz) that still use ULMB, and can be used in 3D Vision (if their refresh rate is the only one available at the resolution you create). That way, 3D Vision will use...

Re: I got my new Acer Predator XB272 G-Sync in today!

What about G-Sync+ULMB? Can you do it at more than 120Hz? Reminder: the trick consists of creating a custom resolution with +5VT than the default value, or doing that for your default resolutions with CRU (so it then works with DSR too). Then when using G-Sync the monitor will tell you that you are ...

Re: G-Sync and ULMB at the same time is in fact possible!

That's unusual about ULMB having less strobe crosstalk than LightBoost. Usually, it's been LightBoost that has less strobe crosstalk. Oh, wait. It makes sense because I use a low ULMB pulse width value (usually between 37 and 45). If I put it to 100, crosstalk is more or less equal to Lightboost. S...
