Re: ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Announced!

Hey chief, are you going to try a 100hz overclock on this new display for even frame division at 24 30 60 120 etc.?

Re: ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Announced!

"why are you using TN in the first place," 1. QD OLED is expensive as hell right now. 2. TN is as old as hell, therefore cheap as hell. 3. If they augment TN with QD it will give a perceptual benefit. 4. If they were to have a QD OLED that refreshed at 500hz 1080p, it would be eating the industry's ...

Re: ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Announced!

May Asus be publicly shamed and flogged if they did not approach the chief for Blur Busters 2.0 certification on their 1st 500hz display. With a refresh rate that high, you should be able to get a very good 240hz strobed image, with top to bottom crosstalk free clarity, and full resolution in motion...

Re: Samsung QD OLED

I know this thing doesn't have BFI built in, so I was curious if anyone who owns it has tried the BFI in retroarch on it? I am really curious to see this thing's motion clarity with BFI.

Re: (Idea) Eliminating Light Leakage at the diffuser in Scanning/strobing Backlight with QD

"I'm not sure if I got what you really think this would achieve but instead of converting to visible light to IR, you can simply use a black pigment to stop it. It would work the same, visible light in, no visible light out." @ MCLV Sorry if i wasn't clear, knew I would be unclear lol ; ) . I will t...

(Idea) Eliminating Light Leakage at the diffuser in Scanning/strobing Backlight with QD

I don't know if any of this will be clear, make sense, or if it would even work. LOL chief let me know. Had this thought this morning while I was getting up. The issue of light leakage, and light control seems to be a big thing limiting scanning and strobing LCD, not for our lack of trying. FALD wor...

"If you're near Pittsburgh I could probably part with one of my NOS 17" Monitors. I have some NOS 20" ones too but I want to keep those I also have some lightly used ones you might be able to get off me fairly cheap to free. Were talking like... 1600x1200 max probably resolution-wise... but that's n...

Re: CRT Technology Collector Here... AMA

Damn Chief, that was one hell of a projector setup. I enjoyed Episode 1 Racer in the Arcade a lot. You are right that CRT was also death by 1000 cuts, but the point was, the work was done. We started from scratch for convenience purposes. I do feel like we could use lasers and Quantum dots to get a ...

Re: CRT Technology Collector Here... AMA

Hey chief, one thing CRT has going for it more than black level, color, and motion, is the fact that it is not fixed pixel. I'm looking to buy a new old stock CRT for this very reason. These high hz LCD's are getting better, but hitting the refresh rate=hz while vsync is going, in the current GPU ma...

Re: Would a universal ML based CRT shader be preferable to something like DLSS?

I think I wasn't clear. I know we would still need BFI and backlight strobing. I was curious as to this idea being used to solve UPSCALE blur, IE non native resolution content looking bad. When I said this could be used "in one go" I meant a ML CRT shader to solve upscaling alongside BFI and backlig...
