Re: Leaked NVidia drivers, do they work with Freesync monito
I read that article and finally downloaded the driver, thanks. The second I get a freesync display I will try it. I'm debating between getting the 27inch IPS G-sync or Freesync one, but the latter isn't available quite yet and the former is near 1 grand in Canadian dollars, which blows. I still don'...

Re: 21:9 gaming monitors of 2015
The w1070 accepts 120hz natively at 720p, and 1080p / 60 for 650$ brand new. Input lag is negligible (32ms ish?). Motion handling is great too. Text is razor sharp. Colors are brilliant. Viewing angles are perfect. Geometry is near-perfect (as perfect as you can align it actually). I'm typing on min...

Re: 21:9 gaming monitors of 2015
I owned a 21:9 LG for a short while (not the freesync version), and it was 29 inches and seemed way too small. Sure, it was cool to show a Bluray in fullscreen but the image quality, even for IPS, isn't anything to write home about. For $650 you can buy a BenQ w1070 projector and get a 138 inch scre...

Re: Leaked NVidia drivers, do they work with Freesync monito
If it has nothing to do with DRM, why does it work on older Toshiba laptops that were released prior to the development and marketing of G-Sync? Assuming for the sake of argument that G-Sync module over Freesync isn't purely for DRM, if eDP monitors support variable v-blank without special extra har...

Re: superMHL: reaching for 8k at 120Hz
I'd also prefer a scanline raster display at 85+hz than a sample and hold at 60hz, so I'm not disagreeing. But 60hz for standard typing and casual use is more than solid enough. If we're talking games, then yeah higher Hz is better up to a point. But that point will rapidly hit a wall when you have ...

Re: Leaked NVidia drivers, do they work with Freesync monito
Does anyone have a copy of these leaked drivers? I'd like to keep them handy for when I buy a Freesync monitor to try and see if I can get it to work on my GTX 970. I'm surprised no one has actually tried it. Kinda sad. I ain't paying extra for g-sync proprietary DRM crap so I'm getting the freesync...

Re: superMHL: reaching for 8k at 120Hz
Personally I like high framerate, the higher the better. My next monitor is still going to be a 60hz UHD freesync panel though, because 144hz is fun and everything, but I play games on my projector anyway. I'd love to have 120hz on my desktop, but not if I have to give up 1/2 the resolution. To wit,...

Re: superMHL: reaching for 8k at 120Hz
i'd rather have high refresh rates (like >200) and framerate than any of those :P No reason to not improve both IQ and FPS (to a point). But in terms of allocation of effort? No, super high FPS will not get any kind of priority from studios. HDR and wider gamut increase rasterization costs by 25% o...

Re: superMHL: reaching for 8k at 120Hz
Thanks for the link. Do we really need 36-bit for things like gaming, though? Yes we do. If we want to increase quality, increasing the pixel density has diminishing returns (except for VR), and increasing bit depth from 10 to 12 bits per channel results in a huge improvement in the ability to rend...
