Re: No G-Sync for the Oculus Rift [yet]

If anyone was wondering about it. G-Sync won't work on any of the display panels Oculus is considering right now, but it will probably be influencing many future panels. source: John Carmack on twitter: https://twitter.com/ID_AA_Carmack/statuses/391299110344867841 For VR, I think low-persistence is...

Re: GSYNC and SLI not working for 2x 770s

That is wonderful to read. I'm still nervous with my second card going to waste. I hope they fix it :( The silver lining is that gsync+single card ironically often looks better than vsync off+SLI , and actually has less lag than SLI to boot, too! But yes, we need to have our cake and eat it too -- ...

Re: BlurBusters in the Oculus Rift video from LinusTechTips

Thanks for the heads up! This is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJv_zTaIUo0 Blur Buster is mentioned at about ~4:30, and the website at about ~4:50. Oculus was one of the first companies to gain access to TestUFO.com six months before it launched. I gave Palmer Luckey passworded access in...

Re: Does GSYNC work with video players?

It's worth noting 144Hz is divisible by 24. You end up with a 6:6 pulldown. But you said you are seeing nasty judder, so I am betting you see 3:2 pulldown, so just switching to 48Hz/72Hz/96Hz/120Hz/144Hz won't work until the 3:2 pulldown is removed. "24p" is a terminology used in the Blu-Ray world, ...

Re: Does GSYNC work with video players?

This isn't fixed by GSYNC, though GSYNC can theoretically help video in the future for different reasons . What you are likely witnessing is probably judder from 3:2 pulldown, where some frames repeat 3 refresh cycles and other frames repeat 2 refresh cycles, in a sequence 3:2:3:2:3:2 ... It's been ...

Strobe Crosstalk: Double Image Effect (razor-sharp ghosts)

What is Strobe Crosstalk? Strobe backlights such as LightBoost and ULMB, allow LCD displays to have low persistence, much like a CRT. They successfully bypass most of a GtG pixel transition, by flashing the backlight/edgelight only on fully refreshed frames. It was only in the last couple years, th...

Re: ASUS VG248QE G-Sync Edition Retail

Try Battlefield 4 or Crysis 3 at Ultra settings -- I really noticed GSYNC improved those games.

GSYNC works best in smoothing out low/stuttery frame rates.
ULMB looks very pretty with the higher/steady frame rates (especially at framerate == refreshrate == stroberate).
