Re: Vizio M651d-A2R 108hz [HDTV overclocking success]

Totally makes sense for 60hz/120hz. However, now I've got a weird one for you. 88hz. This is [email protected]. Everything looks great as far as the eye test goes. But then I get these weird extra bright frames with the 88hz refresh rate. I didn't notice any issues in real time, only after trying to ...

Re: Vizio M651d-A2R 108hz [HDTV overclocking success]

After testing 720p 240hz/200hz/175hz/144hz with the frame skipping test in Chrome, I would definitely recommend 12 frames be captured by anyone confirming 120hz, or 14/15 for anyone confirming 144hz. Actually, one of the problems is that if you try to capture too many frames, the squares become too...

Re: Eizo FG2421

So when is the full review of this monitor :P Really looking forward to it! A little bit behind schedule -- the Holidays have slowed things down quite a bit. I've got G-SYNC Part 2, then the Eizo FG2421 (now that I have the replacement colorimeter), then the XL2720Z review (once new firmware is ins...

Re: The standalone DIY G-Sync board available?

I am going kind of offtopic, but could you say how VG278HE display compares to VG248QE, XL2720Z or XL2720T? I mean colors with and without lightboost, motion artifacts, BLB etc. It is quite similiar in many ways to the XL2720T series in strobe mode, in terms of brightness and checkerboard artifact....

Re: VG248QE with LB, blacks are grey

I feel like the monitor itself might just have poor blacks, but I feel like the blacks on this monitor with lightboost are very light. Even when I put the strobe brightness all the way down it just feels like everything is tinted grey, like the brightness is too high and the contrast is too low. Wh...

Re: Vizio M651d-A2R 108hz [HDTV overclocking success]

Sorry about the exposure length, I used a cell phone camera to take it. Cellphone cameras are good! Just hard to adjust exposure on. Dimming the display is one tactic to trick them into longer exposures. I'll use one of the DLSRs in the future. What is the recommended exposure length for the test? ...

The miniature mancave concept! I used to be the moderator of the AVSCIENCE Home Theater Computers Forum, when it first started up in 1999, back in the days of the Creative Labs DxR2 DVD upgrade, and the Mpact2 3DFusion, as well as Happauge WinTV's running dScaler deinterlacing software (with softwar...

Re: LightBoost turned off by some games

Haha I actually will. "LOOK HOW READABLE THE MAP IS," I'll scream. "LOOK WHAT YOU'RE MISSING." Also, I should note that many people will not notice the difference in games, unless it's pointed out to them. So you have to actually point out the specific area of benefits: -- It benefits eye-tra...

Re: Refresh Rate and FPS Optimal setting!

i dont have gsync so i should stick with 142 fps or go with something above the monitors hz or below That depends on a huge number of variables: - Game engine. Some games work best with a frame cap, while other games work best uncapped. - GPU horsepower. - VSYNC ON versus VSYNC OFF versus GSYNC. - ...

Re: [For 120Hz users] Ultrasmooth 120fps Gameplay Videos Thr

I use software that interpolates frames in regular (24-30fps) video to get my videos to 120FPS. Not as nice as real 120FPS content of course but it is surprising how well it works. By chance, is that the SmoothVideo Project at http://www.svp-team.com ? Some of us should discuss our experiences in a...
