To me, router made no difference. I've tested ISP provided router and my own router which is good enough ( Asus RT AC58U ) and it made no difference in connection or gameplay or input lag.

I have a 3080ti and it shows 8.1 in both. ive ordered the cable, i dont have any hopes though.

Im not sure how any of it makes sense. As I said, all of my cables now show up with 8.1 gbps current rate. Haha it's 45$ for a 3ft Kabeldirekt cable here. I never changed my monitor's dp cables, both ones. Odyssey G7 and Asus PG259QNR so I think it's worth a shot.
