Re: Blur Busters Custom Resolution (CRU) Glossary 101
I managed to get my w1070 projector overclocked to 75hz over HDMI using custom settings like lowering the number of porch lines etc. I currently use 71.928hz as my main refresh rate, since it's exactly 3 X 23.976 which is film framerate, though I use DmitriRender interpolation for smoothness on top ...

Re: Oled tv rolling scan
Just a word of caution, 60hz OLEDs with rolling scan will visibly flicker. I work in VR and I can see it (in brighter scenes) on 60hz low-persistence scanned HMDs (such as those fancy 5K models that mere mortals can't buy yet haha). It's like CRT that way. Brighter scene = more perceived flicker. It...

Re: 120hz 1080p or 1440p mobile phone or laptop LCDs?
I'm interested in these phones to make a DIY gaming projector out of them (ideally 120hz if not 1440p or 4K). This is currently the hottest mobile screen in terms of specs in the world I believe: http://www.avsforum.com/sony-reveals-xperia-xz-premium-first-phone-4k-hdr-screen/ Native 10-bit and HDR,...

120hz 1080p or 1440p mobile phone or laptop LCDs?
Hi guys, has anyone here tried this phone? http://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2016/7/2/12087608/sharp-aquos-mini-sh-m03-android-smartphone-japan Apparently it's only available in Japan. But if it's got decent transmissivity it might be a good contender for a DIY 1080p native 120hz projector. And...

Re: Asus 240hz native new screen
That's a great video, explains it really well. Frankly makes me not all that interested in even working on LCDs any more. The only thing that's truly compelling about LCDs these days is high peak brightness for Dolby Vision HDR (as opposed to HDR10 which 2017 OLEDs can fully max out 1000 nits dynami...

Re: ASUS announces Swift PG27UQ 4K IPS 144Hz G-Sync HDR moni
Awesome specs, now just wait for prices to come down. I wouldn't buy an IPS version of this at 2K, an OLED maybe. Of course FALD with scanning backlight would deliver better image persistence while hiding the LCD transitions. I'll have to see this in action. If my next game does well I'll ask for th...

Re: Two LCD Layers to amplify 1000:1 contrast to 1,000,000:1
I believe Epson's inorganic grayscale LCDs used in their 3LCD projectors has decent aperture ratio / transmissivity so it may indeed be possible to do mega contrast by sandwiching 3 more LCDs next to the original ones. I'd love to try this but 1080p 3LCDs are still quite expensive. However dual gray...

Re: Shaders/Drivers with software-based Black Frame Insertio
BFI is now enabled. Although it uses the frame counter to pick even / odd frames which results in intermittent flickering when the framerate changes. Maybe V-sync is off due to G-sync on my monitor, not sure.

Re: Shaders/Drivers with software-based Black Frame Insertio
It's possible to write a BFI shadertoy on a 120hz native projector or monitor, no problem, just by checking the global timer modulo 16.666 ms, if it's greater than 8.33ms it's black. But as you say, it's a far greater challenge to do native 120hz BFI whilst only rendering at 60hz internally, which w...
