Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
Sometimes the tearline appears at the top of the display, sometimes the bottom, sometimes somewhere in the middle. I'm talking about 2000fps @ 60hz case hence 0.5ms number for frame render. I understand that input falls on a random point in scanout but shouldn't the game react in the one of the nex...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
Wait, are we still talking about how I measured (which is the first movement spotted on screen), or are we talking about why 60Hz is laggier than 240Hz at the same framerate with V-SYNC off? I understood why 60hz feels laggier than 240hz at the same framerate after Chief's post. I didn't get why it...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
The graph you embedded as an example is 1) measuring in 16ms intervals (aka 60Hz; for 240Hz, that same graph would be measured in 4ms intervals), and 2) at what looks to be 60 FPS (single tearline per frame scan). Pointing back to the scenario in your original question, with 2000 FPS V-SYNC off @60...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
take a single static image of a game scene containing multiple tearlines frozen in motion across a single, complete scanout cycle, now print it out, once with a fast printer, once with a slow printer. Both will ultimately print the same image, but one will print it faster. That's effectively what y...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
Thanks for the answers, Chief, Jorimt! Even if average absolute lag is identical for a perfect 60Hz monitor and for a perfect 240Hz monitor, the lagfeel is lower at 240Hz because more pixel update opportunities are occuring per pixel, allowing earlier visibility per pixel. I intuitively grasp this b...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
As for why there is such a "huge" variation at 60Hz, one big factor is "scanout" latency; 60Hz has a relatively slow 16.6ms scanout, so the duration of a single frame scan (16.6ms scanout = top reading: ~0ms, middle reading: 8.3ms, bottom reading: 16.6ms) is much greater than it is at, say, 240Hz (...

https://blurbusters.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/blur-busters-gsync-101-vsync-off-w-fps-limits-60Hz.png Why is there such a huge variation between Min and Max input latency when VSYNC OFF + 2000 FPS @ 60hz? Shouldn't game check inputs and show at least something on screen every 0.5ms or so regard...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
With 120 FPS at 144Hz, so long as the latter doesn't occur (and you have a framerate limit in place to keep it at that average for the former), you won't see tearing with G-SYNC (on) + V-SYNC off, as the render time of a frame with an 120 FPS target (8.3ms per) is well within the display time of 14...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
Thank you for answer, jorimt! For an explanation on exactly why it does this, see entry #2 of my Closing FAQ here: https://blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101-input-lag-tests-and-settings/15/ It's not the bottom tearing that worries me the most. I read your article and know that it can be fixed by V-Sync...

Re: Blur Buster's G-SYNC 101 Series Discussion
So I stuck on the G-Sync ON + V-Sync OFF bottom tearing problem and after some googling found this thread. So if I understood correctly, limiters like RTSS measure frametimes just before the GPU starts rendering the frame. So if GPU time varies RTSS won't capture it and as a result frames would outp...
