Re: Persistence of Vision CRT's & LCD's

OP according to Fudoh from Shmups the Rolling Scan Sony BVM/PVM OLEDs have what you're looking for https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=66453 https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=65073&start=30 As for why this seems to happen on OLED I have no clue but it might be because OLEDs...

Re: Simpler than Black Data Insertion Driving Patent by LG Display

This is very interesting. Sounds a lot like strobing.
I'm curious as to what Chief's thoughts on this are.

Re: Samsung QD OLED

TVs often seem to use electronics more concerned with pushing image quality over latency. So expect figures similar to LG for their TVs but Samsung has a good track with input lag for their LCD TVs at least. On another note I wonder if the monitors will reach the touted 1500 nit peak brightness/3% w...

Re: Samsung QD OLED

The EP950 has 1.30ms overall lag(0.34 pixel response time element + 0.96 signal processing lag) in best scenario. Average G2G is 0.67ms(lowest 0.22 and highest 1.40). Worst case scenario you still have a lot less lag than the 16.67ms of 60hz and the 8.33ms of 120hz. https://tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/...

Re: Repeated images on sample and hold displays at low frame rates

framerates,count=6 Interesting that only the 3rd row(14fps for me) feels like a double image to me when I'm eye-tracking. The 2nd row(26-28fps) feels more like strobe-talk where you can see a trail but it's not exactly full-on double image. EDIT: Wait, nevermind. It wasn't loading properly for a se...

Re: ViewSonic XG2431 Discussion Thread [Blur Busters Approved XG2431 - 24" 240Hz IPS with Best Strobing]

Maybe extreme motion blur? It's almost like a combination of the artifacts you get from VSYNC off, (only vertical instead of horizontal in this case) combined with double vision (like two frames are being rendered together and one is offset by a few pixels + slightly transparent). Hopefully I don't...

Re: ViewSonic Now Shipping XG2431 as of NOW!!! [Blur Busters Approved XG2431 - 24" 240Hz IPS]

Understandable I suppose since global strobe is quite harsh to the eyes. I do wonder if using a higher MPRT value(like say 2ms or 3ms) at say below the 59hz range would lessen flicker to an acceptable level for Viewsonic. That said VRR Strobing for 59hz and above would be great for syncing to a huge...

Re: ViewSonic Now Shipping XG2431 as of NOW!!! [Blur Busters Approved XG2431 - 24" 240Hz IPS]

strobe rate is necessarily hardware-linked to refresh rate for all fixed Hz modes from ~59 Hz to ~241 Hz What about ~49hz to 58hz range? There's plenty of old arcade games that were below 59hz like for example: Mortal Kombat 54.706840hz R-Type 55.017606hz etc. VRR strobing even in a limited capacit...
