Re: Potential HD Mouse Extensions API Specification [ETA by 2025]

so 8000 * a syscall * usermode->kernel mode context switch is a huge problem for real-time 8000Hz, to have actual real 1000/2000/4000/8000 Hz polling it needs to be consistent, meaning XXXX.0000 or as close as possible to no jitter. Good catch. It will have to be flagged to mouse manufacturers & Mi...

u might want to use a better aio and lm(arctic liquid freezer 2 360mm). as a rank one world low latency pc architect i highly recommend it. if you need help with components my dms are open. one time exception to help you with getting most out of your intel cpu due to desire to have someone make a g...

Re: Potential HD Mouse Extensions API Specification [ETA by 2025]

Looking at raw input windows API, both GetRawInput and GetRawInputBuffer functions have a syscall overhead. GetRawInputData gets the raw input one RAWINPUT structure at a time. In contrast, GetRawInputBuffer gets an array of RAWINPUT structures. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/wi...

Re: Potential HD Mouse Extensions API Specification [ETA by 2025]

For API/software/driver side of things it should try to be something like io_uring is in linux https://lwn.net/Articles/810414/ https://unixism.net/loti/what_is_io_uring.html Because of the shared ring buffers between the kernel and user space, io_uring can be a zero-copy system. Copying bytes aroun...

Re: Is it true Ryzen has higher input lag than Intel? Is there conclusive data to prove this?

Can anyone put it in laymen terms how much difference this makes? Going from 40 ns memory latency to 60, how much extra MS will that add in total input lag? If both CPU's have identical FPS ingame etc. please stop thinking about input lag only place where latency is a problem. its a continuous stre...

Re: Discussion about Legitimacy of HTML5 Mouse Testing

Actually, the way you write this is you're pre-judging a test you haven't seen yet. no pre-judging, I block people who play games with browser open. Chrome is well known bloated browser, to the point people make memes out of it. the only thing worse engineered for low latency/high performance and m...

Discussion about Legitimacy of HTML5 Mouse Testing

thats fine but your goals create tooling and research/articles which are causing harm to the actual and only community which benefits from these high performance devices, especially mice. without warning labels about your >goals< these in browser tests harm those who fight for latency in their games...

Re: Is it true Ryzen has higher input lag than Intel? Is there conclusive data to prove this?

Ryzen 5600X having ~63ns in AIDA64 with 3200 with Corsair CMW16GX4M2C3200C16 (16-18-18-36). Measuring in mlc (even with newer 3.9) version I get worse result than on old 2600 Ryzen. Maybe it is not good tool to measure it on Ryzen. can you post 5600X MLC screenshot for research info and aida screen...
