Re: 4K isn't enough to nudge broadcasters beyond 720p [yet..
Wow, 36 feet! In the room my friend has his 50" Seiki 4K TV, the couch is perhaps 8 feet from the TV! Regarding the 'industry' adopting 4K, I like reading all the interesting, and detailed views on where we are going with it. I almost believe we are at about a plateau, similar to computing power fou...

Re: Still nervous to install
This technology is under developed. I would say more along the lines of "The software is buggy for certain instances, and the technology coming from Nvidia is still in its early stages for consumers". I do understand that unfortunately, given the hype and craze via word of mouth and the expected re...

Re: Still nervous to install
If a game has engine stutters and continues to be not smooth, you can always set the games individually to not use G-Sync. ULMB might not look very good on games that have constant stutter, as there is a chance you won't even get to high enough framerates for it to be beneficial. Of course, every ga...

Re: Does GSYNC work with video players? [edit: yes, sometime
Variable frame rate? I don't think it would be a problem recording, but knowing how to play it back rather would be the problem. Though, you could always record in frame-time, the same way G-Sync works and displays to the monitor. Support for VFR in not only recording applications but playback appli...

Re: BENQ XL2720Z 27" of goodness :) [and firmware bug]
Excerpts from email I've received from BENQ: "...We do know it is important for some of user to adjust the timing by their own..." "...expect the new FW will be in the XL2720Z from the begin of Feb...." Some caveats. Keep in mind there's the Chinese New Year which may shift things around a bit (thi...

Re: Does GSYNC work with video players? [edit: yes, sometime
So does that mean that when you use GSYNC with a video that has a frame rate below 30fps, you will see that graininess, like the one on the moving square in the testufo inversion link Chief posted, on the whole screen? Also, why does GSYNC have a minimum frame rate in the first place before it star...

Re: 60-80fps on a 144hz monitor
Depends on what you want. If you want minimal motion blur, you'll want framerate == refresh rate, especially when using Lightboost, and the higher the frequency, the less motion blur you will get. In that scenario, you'll want to reduce settings to allow yourself close to 120Hz as possible on averag...

Re: VGHS season 3 in 4k 48 fps
No, unfortunatly the Seiki TV's are limited to mid-30's Hz OC at 3840 x 2160p.
One line of Sony 4K TV's were able to be firmware upgraded to HDMI 2.0, allowing 60Hz for 4K however.

It's also very worth it to check out this thread here:

There are lots of pages of discussion on these, on different displays. Unfortunately it has slowed down, but still good info.

Experiences with Seiki 4K 50"
Well, my friend finally got enough funds to purchase the Seiki 50" 4K, got it on sale at Sears for $650 (plus tax, $697.something). Got home, plugged it in, and it was pretty decent. Unfortunately did not get any pictures, but I'll give a short summary of the experience. We hooked up a desktop for t...
