Another setting for input lag (not for "EMI" related input lag)

Post by Hyote » 05 Nov 2024, 17:18

I came across a comment by X7007 advising to use this setting. I find it to be a huge input lag fix but not one that deals with the EMI or hardware related issues. Posting it because it could mean a lot of relief for many people.
Device Manager -> Disk Drives -> your SSD -> Policies, both of the settings unchecked.
It slows SSD performance but it's a nice tradeoff for gaming.

Just another useless "tweak" that does absolutely nothing.

Well , It actually helps people who have some stutters in game. But overall, yes, it wont help with "input lag" issue we are talking about for a couple of years :D .

@Hyote Thanks a lot man !!!!

I had never tried this or heard of it.

I have a vulgar 500 GB Lexar M.2 SSD and it's night and day in terms of fluidity and hitreg.

I play CS 2 for the most part and a little bit of Battlefield 2042 and in both games it's very noticeable.

It had the same effect for me without any noticeable performance loss. Glad to have helped.

@Hyote thanks again the change is just fantastic ...

The game is fluid and on the hitregs level too it's pretty crazy the difference.

I have no particular bios or Windows optimization apart from two (removal of some Intel drivers with Bcuninstaller and this manipulation with the hard disk).

Could you please explain what this hard disk option does?
thanks

I'm not an electronics expert, just a gamer and by my understanding, disabling write caching slows down your SSD by having data sent one by one.

And we hear nothing more from him since 5 days...

R.I.P.

and there only 2 answers why:

1. He finally happy and really fixed....

2. Or he try to figure out why this thing don't works more as good when the first time apply and are now trapped in the Hell of Random improvements and changes and on the search of the real true regedit tweak and MSI on/off combinations...

Many here already know this process of something that works for few days or some hour stable before the bad shit gets you and kicks again your smart windows tweaker ass...
