ASUS VG279QM - Low Display Lag Fix
ASUS VG279QM - Low Display Lag Fix
Hello everyone,
I have been using the ASUS VG279QM monitor for a while now and have tried just about every setting possible from changing GameVisual, different refresh rates, colour management settings in windows, different driver settings, secret OD settings, etc.
The best and fastest response rate I seem to get is when using sRBG game visual, combined with removing the colour management profile and also not using the ASUS drivers for this monitor, but using the option in device manager where you browse more driver options and use the Generic option for the drivers. This combined with 80OD seems to give me the best game visual and lowest display lag.
Has anyone else tried this before and if so what results have they yielded?
Would be good if someone were to test this against other GameVisual options and OD settings.

Re: ASUS VG279QM - Low Display Lag Fix
This is normal because you're using the settings that give the lowest latency. I also use an OD above 80 because I prioritize faster input over ghosting. There isn't much more to do, maybe turning off things like logo display if you can. I also changed the monitor address because it is clearly better on the BenQ XL2546 than the default 00 value but I only recommend to do that after ensuring it won't make your monitor unusable afterwards.
You can also disable the generic pnp monitor in device manager as it is just another layer.

Re: ASUS VG279QM - Low Display Lag Fix
Could you possibly share the methodology of changing the monitor address or a source to a video / tutorial.
Re: ASUS VG279QM - Low Display Lag Fix
This isn't the same model but this one shares the access method of entering the service menu viewtopic.php?t=7414
You can probably also check the official ASUS manual for it as well.

I would also like to know how you changed the monitor address.Hyote wrote: ↑07 Nov 2024, 10:59This is normal because you're using the settings that give the lowest latency. I'm warning everyone with big letters, THIS CAN POSSIBLY BREAK YOUR MONITOR WITHOUT ANY WAY TO FIX. My monitor is the BenQ XL2546 as I previously stated and the factory menu can be accessed byMr_Mir wrote: ↑08 Nov 2024, 14:29I would also like to know how you changed the monitor address.Hyote wrote: ↑07 Nov 2024, 10:59This is normal because you're using the settings that give the lowest latency. 1. turning off the monitor
2. holding both button 3 and 4 counted from the left
3. pressing the power button while holding the other two
4. pressing button 5 to open the menu.
I changed the ADDR value from 00 to FF but did not touch the Slave Address which IIRC is the one that makes your monitor unusable once it's changed.
To access factory menus of other brands and specific models you have to search obviously.

Whats the reason to change adreess?
Why you changed it from 00 to FF ?
Re: ASUS VG279QM - Low Display Lag Fix
I tried changing it once and left it like that ever since. If I switch between values, FF makes it feel optimal for me but there isn't any kind of testing methodology here, just personal preference.kamilff32 wrote: ↑10 Nov 2024, 10:28Hyote wrote: ↑08 Nov 2024, 17:52I'm warning everyone with big letters, THIS CAN POSSIBLY BREAK YOUR MONITOR WITHOUT ANY WAY TO FIX.
