5800x vs 12700K competitive fps player

Hey,
So a friend of mine told me that he went from a 5800x to a 12700k (he plays cs go, while I play valorant) and he told me the difference is night and day, and told me that there was insanely less input lag on his intel cpu, he switched rather recently and had a 5800x.
It's not that I do not believe him, but is this really true? I kind of want to try it out or even "upgrade" to intel if that's the case, anyone has heard about this?

edit: forgot to mention, we both had the same RAM (Crucial Ballistix Elite 3600, he was using DOCP when he had his AMD cpu while I played a bit for lower timings)

Maybe you'd get 10-20% FPS improvement but any input lag would be negligible. I think it's more likely he had something wrong with his Windows OS or something in his config causing the input lag.

Benchmark is marketing and they catch some ppl… Its true that Intel has less input lag in games because they are developed to be played on intel…

Did you get the opportunity to test CS:GO on his machine then immediately play CS:GO on yours? Only way to tell is an Apples to Apples setup

It looks more like a placebo effect. I have a PC with 5900X + RTX 3060 and 3570K 4.8GHz + GTX 1060 6GB. I don't feel any difference between one PC and another, although nowadays I rarely play games because of the problem I've been suffering from online games.

i switch 9700k to 12700k, my mice feel very bad, very high lag, inconsistent.

True but he lives abroad now I didn't have the chance to do it, but it got me really curious

Ah yes that sucks. I would imagine the 12700K is somewhat faster.

I would look at minimum fps in this scenario to compare. AVG fps is an avg metric but minimums tells more of the story

EDIT: ask him in about 3-4 months.. he's probably on a fresh install, things are new right now for him.. I'm the same way I get new hardware and I'm like holy crap then I'm like hmm.
