What will a fine PC's latencymon result look like?

Post by omusubi0216 » 23 Aug 2022, 06:11

I've been suffering from input lag and micro stutter issues for months. Problems even persist in desktop and chrome, for instance, when I move mouse cursor around on the desktop and scroll through a page in chrome. It is not an internet issue nor it is display related, since when I connect my laptop to the monitor it feels much smoother and I don't experience any input lag. I decided to run latencymon to determine the cause of the issues after seeing some users recommending it in other threads. And here is the result.

At the time I tested, I was playing VALORANT (multiplayer) and no other programs were running except for discord.
Does the result look OK or bad? If it's bad, what could I do to reduce latency?

I remember getting different results when I tried latenmon in my pc, I’m not sure if it’s affective at this

Turn off hardware acceleration on discord or close it altogether then try again. I had the same issue when I played valorant with my friends in the shroud discord server but now we just use in-game voice chats.

and on browser settings too.

why not? unless you have a laptop with exact specifications as your pc ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just looking at the nvidia's graphics alone got two separate versions for notebooks and desktops

but you need windows reinstall. remake the windows install from the microsoft's tool and reinstall

This is one of my best LatencyMon results, if you have a better result, tell me how you did it.

Can you also show those 2 stats?:
Average measured interrupt to process latency
Average measured interrupt to DPC latency

I'm looking for under 2 to the first stat and under 0.5 to the second stat.

Please tell me if you got better stats in >= 1min of test
Note: I didn't disable drivers/close background apps for the test.
I look for best averages and I'm very curious to know if/how someone got a lower average interrupt to process/DPC latency than I do and how they managed to get those.

There are very good indeed, what guide did you follow to achieve these ?

I mostly used Calypto latency guide for the results(big impact), but I used a lot of different tweaks I learned in the past 5 years from varius sources(some of them were: EverythingTech, Fr33thy, World of PC).

I'll make a list of apps i used to optimize my pc(some may be placebo, but it works in the end*):

winaero tweaker(big impact), iobit uninstaller, ccleaner(first 3 uninstalled after use), quickcpu(run once when pc starts), cpu core parking, parkcontrol, process lasso(i think this is the best app out there), mem reduct, rtss, msi afterburner, islc, timer resolution(last 7 are running in the background at all times), morepowertool, DDU, moreclocktool(those last 3 for gpu tweaks), interrupt affinity policy tool(very important when balancing cpu usage on the cores(at affinities, select everything except core 0 on usb, gpu, network and sound)), msi util v2, autoruns(disable useless background tasks).

It takes me about an hour to do all the tweaks(got used to it after having to do it so often).

I can get most computers/laptops to run in under 2.5us average interrupt to process latency and under 1us average interrupt to dpc latency using the above apps.

I am willing to learn about more tweaks to get my pc to have an even lower interrupt latency.
