Turn it off.
Combine it with Win32PrioritySeparation 16 (hex) (22dec). To make windows scheduler start boosting foreground applications.
I feel sorry for non nvidia users.
Test your spray.
Mine os + driver version is latest win11 with 537.42 version of nvidia driver. Post your results, i already have 3 people of my short steam friendlist that are globals and always claimed this problem is only in our heads and now are literally like WTF.

Agendarsky,

Windows boosts foreground apps by default on Desktop editions of Windows, the setting you're recommending is "slightly" different than the default. The wording suggests it doesn't boost foreground apps at all, if you have better detail others would appreciate it. If it just feels better then that's probably more accurate description of your experience.

Win32PrioritySeparation
  • 16hex (22dec) = 3:1 Foreground Boost, Long Variable Quantum
  • 2hex (2dec) OR 26hex (38dec) = 3:1 Foreground Boost, Short Variable Quantum (Windows Default)

Code: Select all

Registry Key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl\Win32PrioritySeparation
Threaded Optimization has pros and cons, with off you'll likely get less FPS since you have less CPUs helping manage GPU requests but better efficiency due to less context switching but limited to a single cpu/core, so it will feel different. Similar to limiting affinity of devices or processes.

i guess it depends on game, win32priority makes no difference for me in cs2, but it makes huge in old opengl games such half-life , 1.6 , quake live...
Disabling threaded optimization makes 0 fps difference on my setup: 5800x3d + rtx 3060 ti so i guess any modern pc should have not problem with it. One of my friends is playing at garbage laptop where his average fps is stable around 120 and with TO off it drops sometimes even to like 85. Still wanna keep it. Dunno if os and driver version matters in this case, i dont how and why setting that we had at front of our eyes suddenly works now but for me and on my setup its completly gone, by its gone i mean: sluggish heavy movement, broken delayed recoil with slowfire rate, insane click latency which is mostly noticable on scoping, unsteadyness when holding angle or tracking enemy.

Yea for sure! Older games typically have lower latency since the overhead is nothing on modern gaming systems so small changes perhaps more apparent?

I am disabling threaded optimization since 2016, def has the biggest impact on mouse feel along with scaling options in the nvidia control panel to me.

AMD video cards without this setting have lower latency. There is a video where a person with LDAT measured delays. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L42nx6ubpfg&t=879s

What is def? Can you please explain it in detail?

I think he means "definitely"

yes, correct, replace it with "this setting definitely".
