a while back, chief had a bounty for someone to make a VPN like application to fix bad connections, or connections that arent as stable as say FIBER
netdumaOS 4.0 has a feature called steady ping that 'allegedly' buffers your ping, so you have a better experience.
i am not that network savy, but wouldnt this be pointless, considering after it leaves your router, its on its own, and left up to the routing and hops of your ISP?

all you need is a overpriced router

Re: Netduma create a network buffer to stabilize ping/jitter
It looks interesting but we would have to try it and see the results.

Re: Netduma create a network buffer to stabilize ping/jitter
I assume its more for the fact that alot of modern games penalize people on low ping to "level the playing field", so in effect they make a "perfect ping" . So any lower than say 30ms and you get the penalty.

you can achieve the same thing if you have an openwrt router by simply install a package called netem, you can add artificial latency to your connection by any amount and of course on the fly while gaming
my goal was to trick the lag compensation algorithm by starting a game with +50ms and turning it back to +0ms after few minutes
the results is that it was worst with any additional latency
but you can also add artificial packet loss with netem, and it was slightly better with 2% PL, but nothing amazing
i think depending of what game are you playing if you have a stable ping is a penalty not an advantage and it doesn't make sense
