flood's input lag measurements
Re: flood's input lag measurements
No I dont play in windowed mode, I just thought that I might have found a prove for my sluggish feeling. Thank you for your insight.
Re: flood's input lag measurements
i've never tried the new windows 10 thing but based on what i've seen from windows 7 without dwm/aero, windows xp, linux without compositing, etc...
for non exclusive fullscreen modes without vsync
all nvidia cards after 600 series don't tear uniformly. like instead of getting tearing like
you get
basically this means that in this mode, the image at the center of the screen is delayed by a little.
it depends on framerate and stuff.
they're close enough that it doesn't really matter though

Re: flood's input lag measurements
I was speaking of the same framerates. When i tested HL/Source/GO i got pretty much the same results.
Re: flood's input lag measurements
I have a general question: when csgo feels sluggish to me, does that mean i have input delay or could it also be some kind of negative acceleration?
Re: flood's input lag measurements
Yes? "feels sluggish" isn't enough information for us to figure out what your issue is.br00m wrote:I have a general question: when csgo feels sluggish to me, does that mean i have input delay or could it also be some kind of negative acceleration?
Re: flood's input lag measurements
Okay how can i descibe that better. So as I said earlier I started playing css in 2003 and csgo in 2014ish. Css and also 1.6 feels much more direct/responsive/snappier to me as csgo. I played all 3 games on the same system so I kinda think its not my hardware/drivers. Of course I have vsync off and I get a constant 200 FPS with my i5 2320 and HD 7850 with everything on low and a 1280x720 resolution. Maybe Im just super sensitive to input lag and most others dont feel it.

well same to what precision?lexlazootin wrote:I was speaking of the same framerates. When i tested HL/Source/GO i got pretty much the same results.
because with my setup i could see clear differences of a few ms for the same fps cap, due to differences the time taken to actually render.
practically, yes none of the games have significant input lag on a high end computer

Re: flood's input lag measurements
Nowhere as precise as your tests. It was just bumping the mouse with a 1000fps camera and/or using my led+battery mouse click thing i made out of a G302.
at 1000fps they were around 9-13ms~ total input latency, it was more to verify my system then make any useful numbers but it was good enough for me. i was actually surprised that it was actually that low to begin with.

Re: flood's input lag measurements
Any ETA on when you'll continue your tests? Would like to see some csgo on linux vs windows tests. Keep up the good work!
Re: flood's input lag measurements
idk honestly...
i don't have the time or interest that i used to
i'm still offering to give the rig away to anyone who wants (assuming that it still works)
