XL2540 VS LG24GM77-B

Post by q8fawaz » 06 Feb 2018, 16:23

Hello guys, i hope u are doing good this my first topic in this fourm.
yesterday i switched to lg 144hz after 6 month playing with 240hz, input lag increased little bit but the game seems very faster ?? i dont think it's from input lag, maybe the response time ? or frame buffer ? cant understand it ( e.g like player jumping in cs go he fell down faster then 240hz ) need explain please.

Did you have Blur Reduction turned on/off on your XL2540? Blur Reduction can add a very minor amount of input lag.

Vertical Total tweaks are a modification of the video signal, using a Custom Resolution Utility. Changing the size of a blanking interval -- the pause between refresh cycles. This trick is mainly good for various different tricks.

-- Reducing strobe crosstalk of BR
-- Unlocking strange modes such as ULMB+GSYNC
-- Reduce lag of VSYNC ON. This is a Quick Frame Transport (QFT) -- essentially putting the Active at the beginning of a higher-dotclock signal, VBI at the end. It can reduce average VSYNC ON input lag (does not affect average VSYNC OFF lag).

TL;DR: Vertical Total tweaks are probably not useful for non-strobed VSYNC OFF gaming.

Also what can happen is that you have adjusted and trained your eyes to 240hz and now that you are seeing nearly 50% less frames things can appear faster then they are as your eyes are seeing less and brain converts that to speed.
I remember when i switched to 120hz from 60hz and things did appear not only crazy smoother but slower as well. I felt like time slowed slightly.

I think it's just a visual illusion. For example, fight scenes in movies look really fast when they capture it in 24fps because frame time differences are so big that every move jumps. You can see a similar thing with skating shots, if you watch a kickflip at 24fps it seams a lot faster then 60fps because you can easily digest what is happening compared to 24.
