Lowest Input Lag Setting for BenQ xl2540?

Post by rumbledude » 16 Mar 2018, 06:36

Hello everyone, I'm new to learning about monitor settings and still not very familiar with all the technical terms and which option does what. I was wondering if anyone could explain to me what the best settings for playing Overwatch competitively, on the BenQ XL2540 might be?

I play on 240hz, unlimited FPS cap (300 FPS), usually fluctuating between 230-300 fps in game.
Would it be smarter to play on 144hz if I can't constantly stay above 240 FPS?

Are there any important options to reduce input lag to the lowest it could possibly go?
Any other settings that could benefit for playing competitively?

Unless you wanted to use vsync, 240Hz is the best option.

There's no other settings for the monitor. Input lag tweaks rarely involve the monitor in general.

Lag-wise, there is less scanout lag at 240Hz.
Assuming all things equal (processing lag, GtG lag, game lag, etc), 100fps at 240Hz has less input lag than 100fps at 144Hz.

So in that case, you don't want to lower the refresh rate if you're trying to keep lag at its lowest for competitive gameplay.
