XB271HU or AW2518H?!

Post by GFresha » 02 Mar 2019, 21:18

All I play are competetive games, Fortnite, CSGO, OW, Apex, LOL, you get it! My rig is 980 ti, 8700k, 3800mhz 2x8 ram. I usually get 200 FPS+ on almost all those games (except Apex) cos I just put all settings low. People on reddit tell me I am stupid for even thinking of the 240 hz monitor cos it looks like shit and keep mentioning how 144hz 1440p looks stunning, but my issue is I am looking for a low response time. Is the response time of the XB271HU IPS 144 hz almost the same or no difference compared to AW2518H 240HZ TN panel? Help me make a choice guys! I like the 240 hz gsync and my heart is leaning otwards it cos I have heard it slightly more smooth compared to 144hz but also cos its TN I am guessing more response time? Also if I decide to play game where I can't push 240 FPS, I got gsync to take care of the fluctuation. I can't see any single pro using the XB271HU but ever redditor and their mom recommends it cos it looks good.

The IPS version of the XB271HU (there is also a TN model; I own the IPS) arguably has the best overall picture quality + motion clarity + input lag levels of any other currently available IPS (below 4k resolution and/or non-ultrawide) gaming panel on the market.

That said, the best 144Hz TN panels still beat it in motion clarity (but not much else). 240Hz can be a mixed bag motion clarity-wise (others here can speak to that more than me though).

If you go for a "TN" upgrade, just be aware you'll be downgrading your overall picture quality. But if motion clarity is more important to you, then that shouldn't much matter to you.

Trade-offs, really.
