Request to test FPS and Standard Benq display mode lag

Post by afx7 » 30 Aug 2019, 01:07

There were lag tests of the display modes on a BenQ monitor posted a while back but I cant find the original article again. Im not sure it was even a 144Hz display, but they stated FPS and standard modes had no difference in input lag from measurements.

I have had this in mind for quite a while but still cant seem to shake the feeling that FPS mode on XL2411 does in fact have less lag, along with a general reduction in image quality like atrocious washed out colours, I have seen a few other anecdotal reports saying the same thing and would explain the purpose of this mode with its objectively worse image quality.
If anyone has some free time and the opportunity to test the input lag between these modes, on XL2411 or similar Benq display, that would be greatly appreciated and Im sure most be interested to know.

My display is one of the more recent Zowie Xl2411 models

If BenQ programmers done it in right way there won't be any difference. If there is difference then higher chance that additional latency (input lag) will be at standard mode since FPS1 is default one and this monitor is oriented for gamers with high demands. By the way they (programmers) disabled smart scaling at some models at highest refresh rates to not introduce additional latency (input lag). My list of good resources with articles about monitors and reviews except blurbusters.com ofc:

That's a good point about FPS mode being default mode, more reason to ask why they would chose that over standard for everyone out of the box experience with the monitor

Because it's not a standard monitor. It's gaming one for fast games like FPS. Also "cs professionals" opinions/preferences were used when they were creating their gaming monitor and many of them are known for crazy color setting afaik. You can took this as marketing bullshit but gaming/esports market is growing fast.
