Hurting myself enabling ultra low motion blur at 240 hz?

Post by GFresha » 31 Jan 2020, 02:07

Bought my self the XF252Q 0.3 MS monitor and enabled the ultra low motion blur, titled "VRB Mode" in the OSD at 240 hz and just could not notice a big difference this test: https://testufo.com/eyetracking but at 120 hz I noticed huge difference when I turned this mode on. Also at 144 hz I didn't notice difference same as 240 hz.

My question is, aside from the 0 difference in VRB mode on vs off at 240 hz, is their significant input lag with VRB mode on? Am I hurting my self by enabling this mode even if it has no difference cos of potential input lag?

TFT Central does not provide lag comparisons with different strobe modes but in theory, it should not add any lag. Make sure you have Ultra Low Latency mode turned on for minimal input lag. As for the lack of difference between 240Hz and 120/144Hz strobing, according to RTings, the 240Hz strobe does not appear to be a genuine 240Hz rate. https://i.rtings.com/images/reviews/mon ... -large.jpg

On extreme overdrive, it does a double flash which isn't as good as a synchronized flash. https://www.rtings.com/images/reviews/m ... -large.jpg

So it looks like this monitor is not capable of true 240Hz BFI and the attendant benefits of motion clarity but there are still some advantages to that mode over 144Hz BFI.
