I’ve Dell s3220dgf
2560x1440 165hz if i plug in DP 1.4 cable
2560x1440 144hz(Native refresh rate) if i plug in HDMI cable
I want best possible response time and input lag with It’s Native 144hz.
So if i make a custom resolution while DP 1.4 connected on Nvidia Settings 2560x1440 144hz Will i get more response time, input lag or it’ll be just same as 165hz ?

Well i might not told my question clear but i find the solution via Chief’s thoughts about Display Scaling versus GPU scaling also on other social media video platform there is really interesting solution which is called Real Display Scaling from KazjerD. It fixed my input lag and mouse gelini problem.

Your question/logic is confusing but I think I have your answer. Display scaling at a lower resolution will raise frames and lower input lag. I'm not sure why you talk about different hertz though.
My recommendation is to make a custom res for 1920*1080 @ 165hz display scaled and then see how that feels. Imo go as low as you can before you hit the point where the image quality is so shit that it's unplayable

You will for sure get more input lag at 144 Hz than on 165 Hz because at 144 Hz it will take your monitor longer to fully refresh(same reason 120 Hz is faster than 60 Hz). Remember, image transmitted to the monitor and shown on the monitor line by line:
And at 165 Hz it does it faster than at 144 Hz.
So the good thing to do here is to actually overclock your monitor further. 165 Hz is fine, but why play at 165 Hz when you can overclock it to 200 Hz or even further?
