So basically my question is concerning the lag test, like the one done here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Po6Zqjf-Wo
That monitor runs at 60hz, and at the "gamer mode" it lowers lag time down to 21ms.
My question is, if that monitor was running at 120hz instead, would the lag time be reduced further? Down to around 10.5ms?
How much does refresh rate affect lag times?
Re: How much does refresh rate affect lag times?
If it was 21ms, then other than lag caused by vertical refresh rate, it was 21 - 1000 / 60 = 21 - 16.67 = 4.33ms.deama wrote: ↑13 Jun 2020, 14:13So basically my question is concerning the lag test, like the one done here:

So at 120 Hz that monitor would be around 4.33 + 1000 / 120 = 4.33 + 8.33 = 12.66ms.
Yes, your monitor is the biggest input lag bottleneck in your system. So if you can get higher refresh rate monitor, just get it. Get 360 Hz if you can.
Re: How much does refresh rate affect lag times?
Ah thanks.
I actually am thinking about getting an OLED monitor to try, and when I saw the input lag test I was concerned about that, but maybe I can find a 120hz at least OLED, which would be fine for me, especially if I could get it to around 5ms.

Re: How much does refresh rate affect lag times?
360 Hz? I don't think there is any monitor with such refresh rate available on the market yet. I'd surely like to test it!

Oh I forgot to ask, what if the monitor above measured 13ms at 60hz?Kulagin wrote: ↑14 Jun 2020, 05:58If it was 21ms, then other than lag caused by vertical refresh rate, it was 21 - 1000 / 60 = 21 - 16.67 = 4.33ms.deama wrote: ↑13 Jun 2020, 14:13So basically my question is concerning the lag test, like the one done here:

Does that mean it would be 13-1000 / 60 = 13-16.67 = -3.67 ?
So -3.67 - 1000 / 120 = -3.67 + 8.33 = 4.66ms?
