Yes it seems thats what is happening, they have set Reflex to default 'on' before they have implemented it in the menus/UI in both games.

This was the release about it on Apex from Nvidia, it gives you manual launch options for it but then it says its on by default anyway and the disable launch option doesn't even work.

Ha, oh, guess I was right (at least where Apex is directly concerned). There you have.
Yea I presume D2 has it default on also since the newest Driver update where they mentioned it.

All new Reflex and latency analyzer testing articles to start on now though! 8-)

which vsync do you guys use? That I've not been able to figure out. Reflex + vsync...but which version for a decently or higher end spec'd system?

I requested an LDAT from Nvidia a while back and am waiting to receive it. Last I heard, I was on the list for a second shipment sometime in October (which has come and gone). Not sure when or if I'll receive one. May have to check back with them for another update here soon.

That said, if I do ultimately receive one, any Reflex-oriented testing would (at this time) only take place in dedicated threads of this forum, and would then only be academic/novel in nature, as it is already known in what scenarios Reflex does and doesn't affect input lag, and by how much.

In the meantime, Battle(non)sense has videos on both Reflex and the Reflex Latency Analyzer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gub1bI12ODY&t=417s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxEMham8GKY

Short version:
Reflex helps if your system is GPU-bound, and not much else if it isn't (Gamers Nexus found the same).

V-SYNC with or without G-SYNC? And do you mean driver control panel V-SYNC vs. in-game V-SYNC, or double buffer V-SYNC vs. triple buffer V-SYNC, or?

I mean in Nvidia control panel vsync, or vsync fast, or vsync adaptive ect

- Control panel V-SYNC almost always behaves the same way as the default in-game V-SYNC option.
- Fast Sync works best on its own with an uncapped framerate that can exceed the refresh rate by at least 2x times, else the more stutter it causes (it uses those excess frames to display the best/most recent frames, and then drops the others to reduce input lag).
- Adaptive V-SYNC is control panel V-SYNC whenever the framerate is above the refresh, and is V-SYNC off whenever the framerate is below the refresh rate.

If you're using G-SYNC, always use NVCP V-SYNC or the in-game (double buffer) V-SYNC.

If you're not using G-SYNC, V-SYNC method selection becomes more situational and preferential.

For low lag V-SYNC-only methods, see here:

Im using a Benq XL2746s with Dyac+ on so no Gsync. Ive got a rtx 3080/9900k setup playing apex legends and I have my framrate capped at 238. So I should probably just use regular vsync. I was using fast but I am definitely not getting 2x the fps in game of my game. I can hit high 200's in game but there are also times because I think of optimization that i will dip into the 150's for a few seconds. Mostly I am north of 200. Thank you for the article. I'll check it out and see if I can get more clarity.

One question I do have is are the Low lag results basically the same on all vsync methods? So I can pick the vsync that is right for my situation and count on the low lag being comparible to what the article shows?

V-SYNC requires different methods from G-SYNC.

For low lag V-SYNC, refer to this article:

You don't need any sync, just cap it to 240 or leave it uncapped.

I checked D2 again, it does act the same as Apex so Vsync on with Gsync causes 225 cap.
This a wild, speculative guess, but since both are suppose to eventually have Reflex support, perhaps they've already been prepped to implement it in recent patches, thus something during that process has caused the G-SYNC + V-SYNC combo to auto limit the FPS, as this is what Reflex will do when it's made available in those games.

Hopefully this will amend itself once Reflex is patched in, otherwise, it must just be game-specific in those cases, because I have not seen this behavior in the majority of the other games I've tested/played recently.
Yes it seems thats what is happening, they have set Reflex to default 'on' before they have implemented it in the menus/UI in both games.

So back to this issue.

D2 100% has reflex implemented now, I've turned it off as per: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/49656

The 225 auto cap on a 240hz monitor having Vsync on with Gsync is still happening.

If that's how the driver is now behaving with certain games that have implemented Reflex, there's not much you can do on the user-side but hope it changes in future display drivers and/or game patches.

You could also submit a driver bug report to Nvidia and bring it up in the official D2 forums.
