Its not actually a problem because I'm not hitting that anyway, I just noticed it capping to 225 on loading screens and remember reading about the Ultra cap on here.
Have you checked the in-game limiter?

In a recent video of Battle(non)sense about "NVIDIA Reflex", I noticed that it recommends setting the low latency mode to "Off".
a5hun also had a Frame-Rate limiter video where Any option but Off in non-gpu boudn scenarios would increase latency.

Definitely no limiters on.

I have just done more testing using Apex Legends (It was doing the exact same thing) and I've figured it out, I'm guessing Nvidia has changed the way Gsync is working again because this can't just be my PC.

It has nothing to do with LLM, it does it with LLM off and Reflex off.

Activating Gsync and Vsync (NCP Vsync and ingame Vsync both cause it) makes my 240hz monitor cap to 225.

I've read all the other threads about LLM and testing saying only Gsync+Vsync+Ultra auto cap your monitor but this is 100% happening without LLM activated.

Having Gsync on and Vsync off makes the cap go away though.

In games other than D2 as well? What's your driver version and basic PC specs?

I'll try testing a few games myself this weekend and report back.

Yea I checked on Apex Legends and it was the same and all that I just posted in the last reply was what I tested on Apex, it loads in quicker than D2 so I could jump between settings faster.

All my drivers are newest up to date, Windows and Nvidia.

I5 8400, 1070ti, 16gb 3200 ram on XMP, Z370 mobo on default settings.
Monitor is Acer Predator XB252Q.

Alright, as promised, I did some extensive testing on this today. Nvidia driver v457.09, specs in sig.

What I found is, in Apex, with G-SYNC enabled, it doesn't matter if you have LLM "On" or "Off," the driver will auto limit the FPS so long as you have G-SYNC on + NVCP V-SYNC on or G-SYNC on + in-game V-SYNC on.

With G-SYNC on + either/both V-SYNC options off, there is no auto FPS limit.

I can't speak to D2 currently (again, I have it uninstalled), but I tested several other games, and with G-SYNC on + NVCP or in-game V-SYNC on (LLM "On" or "Off"), the driver did not auto limit the FPS like it did in Apex, so this behavior must be specific to that game (and apparently D2?).

I even rolled back to the previous driver version (456.71) and did the same tests, and behavior was identical.

As for my recommended settings, they're a blanket starting point. I can't make exceptions or cover individual game behavior; I have to aim for the most common behaviors, and it appears most games still don't auto limit the FPS with G-SYNC + V-SYNC + LLM "On"/"Off".

I checked D2 again, it does act the same as Apex so Vsync on with Gsync causes 225 cap.

This a wild, speculative guess, but since both are suppose to eventually have Reflex support, perhaps they've already been prepped to implement it in recent patches, thus something during that process has caused the G-SYNC + V-SYNC combo to auto limit the FPS, as this is what Reflex will do when it's made available in those games.

Hopefully this will amend itself once Reflex is patched in, otherwise, it must just be game-specific in those cases, because I have not seen this behavior in the majority of the other games I've tested/played recently.

Yes it seems thats what is happening, they have set Reflex to default 'on' before they have implemented it in the menus/UI in both games.

This was the release about it on Apex from Nvidia, it gives you manual launch options for it but then it says its on by default anyway and the disable launch option doesn't even work.

Ha, oh, guess I was right (at least where Apex is directly concerned). There you have.
