I think I have ceased to understand you.

Terminology is sometimes different so to de-mystify, so just to attempt to put everyone back on the same page:

Glossary
  • "Disable DWM" = Disabling that Aero-like feature in Windows 7 (this is not possible in Windows 10)
  • "FSO" = Full Screen Optimizations (mode to mulate FSE in Borderless; but often has problems with different-Hz multimonitor)
  • "FSE" = Full Screen Exclusive (the only true way to bypass DWM under Windows 10)
  • "Borderless" = Game running in full screen without window bars / frames, but you can still easily Alt+Tab etc.
Multimonitor stutter/lag
FSO usually works okay with some sync technologies on well optimized single monitor systems; but FSO has much more difficulties being 1:1 lag equivalent to FSE for multimonitor systems. This is due to Windows being a single-Hz DWM (can't independently composite different-Hz monitors stutterlessly on both screens). If you need FSO at close to FSE-equivalent lag, use single monitor. If you're having difficulty doing FSE, software such as DisplayFusion can allow you to enable/disable a secondary monitor upon a hotkey, so that you can use FSO with less problems.

Doublecheck your terminology of what you mean
If your use of this terminology was wrong (confusing FSO vs FSE, etc) please correct your terminology accordingly so international misunderstandings are reduced; many forum members here aren't English-primary-language speakers and are trying their best to use correct terminology. And if you said "Disable DWM" for Windows 10, please explain what that refers to. Hope my post helps.

I think I have ceased to understand you.
You said restoring the apex children folder via gamebar is key to enabling FSE. I asked if that actually gave you FSE back and you answered by linking a method to disable dwm. So I concluded that the first method(restoring children) did not work afterall.
...Just making sure we're on the same page, so we can find a solution hopefully.

It seems I figured out what the omission is.

Yes it is.

Most likely it was this proposal that led to misunderstanding.

I used the build win10 suggested in this thread.

I suggested a build of Windows 10 available for everyone at the link. I have not suggested using the killdwm method.
Since this build is available to everyone and the fse mode for apex is available on it.
To avoid doubts, I recorded a video. Which shows that apex and other games are running in fse mode.

I see what you mean now, ty for clarifying!
I will keep my 1909 installation for now and if I find a fix I'll post it here.

this is fse 100%
version 2004? I'll have to try. thanks for the information.
Np, but just reiterating, FSE was also working for me on several of the previous versions of Windows including v1909.
I understood why I couldn't run apex in fse mode before. Now everything has become clear. If part of the functionality of the game mode is cut, the system does not define apex as a game and an entry in the GameConfigStore \ Children section does not appear in the registry. If the functionality of the game mode is full, then the entry in the registry appears automatically, if this does not happen automatically for some reason, the game can be added manually through the game bar "remember as a game".
And only then you can make changes that lead to fse.
I am running Windows Server 2022 at the moment. I cant get Apex Legends to run on FSE. The GameConfigStore \ Children section is empty in my registry so I cannot put the "Flags" on 211. Windows Server 2022 does not have the Windows Store or a Gamebar. Is there any way that I can install the Gamebar without the Windows Store or a other trick to get Apex on FSE?

You can install the Windows Store https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l5g6uk ... sp=sharing . Gamebar needs to be checked. When I have more free time.

Server2022 is missing gamemode and cannot install Media Feature Pack.
Gamebar starts, but not through hotkeys.
Without gamemode entries in the registry do not appear.

I couldn't do it with this method. But this is not the only method.
It is possible that another person will have more luck. ;)
