I mean steam doesn't run in Fullscreen, maybe if you use 3D desktop? It can't hurt to disable it right?

I imagine Steam Friends chat would trigger FSO DWM, same with EpicLauncher or any other launchers for their friends chat services or any overlay while in-game, or am I wrong to assume so and it's effect with DWM?

Some people said so in this thread. I don't use overlay, so I have no idea! But there should be no harm in disabling it. Some apps like Origin will complain, that you launched them in compability mode, if you change any settings there. But Origin also says: if you encounter any issues. So I think - that's just a general warning...

EDIT: I was doing FrameTime analysis using this tool: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/ne ... -download/

And in log it says Windowed mode. It has overlay, but once you start benchmark it is hidden. So it is confusing, why it says Windowed mode. I Am telling as someone said: overlays will cause game go to the Windowed mode, so it seems that it is so... This is with FSO disabled. Overlay are bad to use all time in general as they can cause fps drops etc. I don't use them, only when troubleshooting.

I just found a nice fix for floaty mouse on my current setup.
I'm using an XM1R with an AB350 Gaming 3.

The general rule about EHCI and XHCI hand-off is to disable EHCI hand-off and keep XHCI hand-off enabled.

I don't have EHCI hand-off in my bios so I assume it's disabled. I've been keeping XHCI hand-off enabled for basically over a year.

Yesterday I decided to disable XHCI hand-off which means that every USB 3.1 and 3.0 port is effectively turned into an USB 2.0 and I noticed that every floaty mouse issue I had was fixed, my mice and my keyboard both feel more responsive.

This is interesting because with XHCI hand-off enabled while using a USB 2.0 I still suffer from floaty mouse issues.

It is definitely not placebo, the difference is very clear on my setup. I'm wondering what could be the cause of this issue, from my understanding with XHCI hand-off disabled the USB functionalities are handled at a bios level so could the issue be caused by chipset/windows drivers? I'm very confused, I don't like losing USB 3.0 functionalities but I can't handle going back to XHCI hand-off enabled.

@Axaro1 Use usbtreeview to get a closer look at your USB hubs and ports. I may not have comprehended it correctly but on my X570 Xtreme board the USB xHCI 3.0 hubs also include USB 2.0 ports.. so maybe the USB 2.0 ports were still behaving like USB 3.0 ports?

This seemed safe for my downloading of it:

My mouse (XM1R) is connected to a USB 3.0 port

It does say:

Code: Select all

USB version : 2.00 -> wrong, device is Full-Speed only
Port maximum Speed : High-Speed (Companion Port 1-7 supports SuperSpeed)
According to Endgame Gear my XM1R is supported by USB 2.0 Type A

My keyboard is connected to a USB 3.1 port

And finally I connected my USB microphone to the USB 2.0 DAC-UP port

Strange I had already disabled Xhci hand-off in BIOS and it doesn't turn USB 3 ports into USB 2. Isn't this for older systems, which have problem with utilizing USB3 ports?

I can't unfortunately disable USB 3 anyways, even if I could, I need it for VR!

I have another problem: even when no USB 3 devices are connected. I have only USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) installed. But when I disable every single USB3 port in BIOS, I have only USB Root Hub installed and mouse movement is better! Even I have still only Xhci drivers and no Ehci, since new motherboards supposedly have only Xhci drivers!!!

Also since we are talking about mice, I was reading yesterday R0ach posts and found this gem: https://www.overclock.net/threads/how-t ... t-28522852

Didn't try it yet, since I have some problems with device manager. Can't hide disconnected devices! So I don't want to do it, in case: order of devices would change, after disconnecting a mouse! But this issue cause input lag and clown mousefeel supposedly for so many peoples...

On port 8 it's showing my cpu water cooler connected. Is it safe to disable it or am I screwed. Also, on port 1 & 17 it's showing USB (Realtek Semiconductor Corp.) which I have no idea what that is. Can I disable these safely?
