Why should i use 0.5ms instead of the default 1ms?

Because 0.5ms is faster than 1ms.

roughly speaking timer resolution is how often your processor "updates/refreshes"

older operating systems (xp and earlier) would have it set to 15+ milliseconds as default. this could increase your ping by 10/15ish and maybe drop your fps by the same amount.

so on older systems timer resolution set to max would help.

however, if you are win7 or newer the timer resolution should be set at 1 millisecond, so changing it to the max 0.5 milliseconds wont give you much boost, maybe 1ping higher or 1more fps, but i doubt it would be noticeable.

(if you open the timer resolution program and it says that the current is 1.000 miliseconds then you are fine.)

FUN FACT: when the tool wasn't around people figured out that opening a media player would force the TR to go to maximum, so they would open real player or something similar in the background while playing online games.

precisely because of this you cannot kill anyone

It depends on your mouse polling rate greatly. I use 500hz, because 1000hz captures smallest movements and I had much better aim on 500hz (former supreme in cs go) with 1ms timer resolution window! BTW 8khz mouse is completely another story... So if you use 500hz, I would recommend 1ms timer! Usually games themselves set to 1ms for some reason. But 0.5ms is better in terms of input lag and it can help a bit with DPC latency! But it makes mouse inconsistent with 500hz and reacts even to smallest movements, while movement is kinda weird. Honestly test 1ms vs 0.5ms what feels better to you...

I would recommend you to check my guide from link below for other mouse tweaks, because this relates to more things...

I really appreciate your guide, but I fundamentally disagree with the change in the mouse smooth reg, having tested more than 20 different values, I came to the conclusion that the best of the best is the default or deletevalue

? That's what I use zero-length binary value, as it won't smooth the mouse curve, in other words = no smoothing (1:1 mouse ratio). And that's what is in guide, so I am confused.

yeah, that’s what it makes my mouse ugly, the real one can’t kill anyone. I played constantly for a week and used my 3k aim_botz habits, but to no avail when I did what I always did.

Huh? Not sure if 3 weeks are enough, I was supreme on this in CS GO, it is about habit. I would prefer 1:1 to the actual smoothing. But at the end it is just a preference! Also I use DA Elite, which is precise in itself.

When I benchmark fps in csgo with 0.5 ms I always get lower average fps than 1.0 ms. Is that normal or my pc is weak (kinda is)?

Or is it like a trade off between smoothness and responsiveness?

Thanks
