Mouse (Hz) frequancy issues

Post by Qure » 14 Jan 2022, 05:02

I've been testing my mouse with 500hz polling rate on my pc and I've got weird results.
I've used 'Mouse Tester v1.5.3' and 'Mouse Movement Recorder' to test it.

PC info
OS: Win 11
Mobo: Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master
Cpu: Ryzen 9 3900x (Bronze Sample, sh#t sucks)
PSU: Corsair AX1000 (80 Plus Titanium)
SSD: Addlink s70 1tb (nvme m.2 2280)
RAM: Trident-Z Neo 3800Mhz 14cl (Mhz underclocked for Infinity Fabric 1:1:1)

Mouses that I've tested:
Razer Viper, Razer Deathadder v2, Logitech GPX Superlight, Zowie EC1-B.
(I get this issue on every single one of them.)

Settings that I've checked:
(Bios) Spread Spectrum On/Off. -Nothing
(Bios) Bus Clock Auto/100.0mhz. -Nothing
(Bios) Global C-State Control On/Off. -Nothing
(Bios) DF C-State On-Off. -Nothing
(Bios) Cool n' Quiet On/Off. -Nothing
(Bios) CPB & PBO On/Off. -Nothing
(Bios+Windows) HPET On/Off. -Nothing
(Bios) Underclocking/Overclocking CPU Clockspeed. -Nothing
(Bios) Undervolting/Auto-volting CPU. -Nothing
(Bios) RAM Default/XMP 3.0/Manual Overclock. -Nothing
(Bios) PCIE Spread Spectrum; SRIS: Auto,Enable,Disable. -Nothing
(Bios) Legacy USB Support On/Off + XHCI hand-off On/Off -Nothing
(Bios) Cleared CMOS couple times throughout my tests. -Nothing
(Power) Bought new Power cables for PC & Monitor. -Nothing
(Power) Tested 4 different Power Sockets in my house. -Nothing
(Windows) Tested MSI Mode ON/OFF for EVERYTHING, tested every different combination of MSI Mode for every hardware. -Nothing
(Windows) Interrupt Affinity for USB Controllers, 1 Core+Thread AND tested again with 1 Core solo (SMT OFF+CPPC OFF). -Nothing
(Windows 10/11) Fresh install + Power Optimization + Registry Optimization + DDU GPU + Default Drivers + Optimal Drivers. -Nothing
(Back Panel) Tried: USB 2.0 x4-ports (Chipset), USB 3.2 Gen2 x1-port (Chipset), USB 3.2 Gen2 x2 (CPU), USB 3.2 Gen1 x2 (CPU).
(Back Panel) Tried connecting only Mouse in different USB Hubs/Ports. -Nothing
(Optimizations Tools) PowerSettingsExplorer, ISLC, Autoruns, Process Hacker 2, MSI Afterburner, CTR v2.1_RC5. -Nothing

I noticed TWO things along my testings:
1.When I disable MSI Mode for my SSD 'Addlink S70', My PC becomes extremely SLOW, hitchy and barely responsive. I have no idea why it happens or if that's even normal. I have no other PC to test that on, so I hope someone could help me find an explanation for it.

2.When I disable MSI Mode for my USB 2.0 x4-ports (Chipset), It will completely stop working, until I changed it back to MSI Mode again.
(Other USB Hubs work perfectly fine on Line-Based mode, it's only this single USB 2.0 Hub that has this issue.)

I have no idea if it's an Hardware issue OR if it's an Electricity/Power (EMI/RFI) Issue. Maybe someone genius from here could tell me.
I'll update this thread if I'll find new 'Anomalies', maybe it will somehow help other members or lurkers.

Another Important Note:
I found out that my entire apartment is not grounded, not a single Socket nor single cieling light. (I do have RCCB implemented tho')
Not only that, but later on I've found out that my entire building is not grounded at all. (what the f*ck..)

I personally think that my Motherboard is the culprit here, but honestly.. what do I know. :|

You have near excellent graphs. :o Check mine viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9470&p=76035#p76035 you can also post in this topic your issue :)

Did you try lowering mouse polling rate by 250 hz, 150hz etc? Didn't see what you already tried this. Ppl in google and I have better results in lower polling rates

the old versions of Mousetester are not accurate, under Windows 10 you must have the most recent version to have the most consistent data possible.

also I forgot it is important that you close all the programs in the background to have the most consistent graphics possible.

You need to run "Mousetester.exe" on the same cpu affinity than csrss.exe and dmw.
I was having the same issue with my pc, try to install "hibusbf master" in overclocking thread here:
https://www.overclock.net/threads/usb-m ... z.1589644/
This work for the same problem. Hope it's work for you. :ugeek:

1) Try to disable GPU and test it
2) Disable SMT
3) Affinity controller to 2 core, gpu to 4 core
4) Msi-Mode
5) Legacy USB support and XHCI-hand off = disable
6) Install REVIOS (set useplatformtick no)

Mousetester 1.5.3 good version and working normal

Test different ports, or different motherboard, or use PCIe USB card too.
Reason: Motherboard specimens or certain models are sometimes semi-defective unbeknownst to us. Sometimes the problem is occuring because of the motherboard itself. Sometimes the EMI is internal, with a cheap or semi-defective motherboard with poor electrical noise handling. Whether it be imperfect capacitor or a bad VRM or other plain bad luck, weirdnesses in motherboard can only be fixed by swapping motherboards and/or externalizing the USB ports onto a PCIe USB card. Adding a PCIe USB card for $20 is MUCH easier than replacing a motherboard.

Also test a good wireless gaming mouse too
Reason: If your motherboard is perfect and your problem is not fixed by a PCIe USB card, try eliminating your mouse's EMI antenna (aka mouse cable). Most of the time wireless gaming mice is more laggy, but sometimes becomes less laggy in strong-EMI environments. People living in strong EMI fields (e.g. high voltage transmission corridors -- living under those 500 kilovolt power cables) report latency improvements when using a wireless mouse. Mouse cables act as an antenna to pick up EMI, that creates error-correction jitter and latency behaviors on the USB cable. While wireless EMI (e.g. congested airwaves) can cause issues, if your problem is mainly injection of EMI into mouse cable, then wireless mouse fixes that problem.
