Benq ZOWIE XL2411P - blur/not fluid

Post by teamzach » 10 Aug 2019, 22:55

Hi all, I'm new user of 144hz monitor. I have RX580 video card and purchase new Benq ZOWIE XL2411P. I thought having 144hz monitor will eliminate the blur when playing PUBG steam. When I'm playing, I usually jump then do 360 loop around to see enemy, but it just a blurring or not fluid it just like 60hz monitor. Can someone help me with the setup? Or anything I missed? Thank you!

As I'm reading the product description: " Fluid Gameplay with Smooth and Precise Control " https://zowie.benq.com/en/product/monit ... 2411p.html but it seems I'm looking at the 60hz. Is there any settings from my graphic card or in monitor? Thanks

1. Did you enable blur reduction on your XL2411P?
2. Are you maintaining 144 frames per second? Or at least framerate=Hz (e.g. 100fps @ 100Hz strobed)

Non-strobed (Traditional LCD, sample-and-hold, "Blur Reduction" OFF)
Blur will be directly linked to frame rate.
60fps on 144Hz will look just like 60fps at 60Hz.
144fps at 144Hz monitor can reduce blur to only 60/144ths the 60fps at 60Hz.

Strobed (CRT, ULMB, strobing, "Blur Reduction" ON)
You should not be seeing blur.

Hello Chief,

The Blur Reduction is turned OFF now and I can say for my in-game FPS. It is not stable as 144 FPS. It is playing around 100-120 FPS.

If I turned ON, the brightness is gradually decreased.

Regards,

There's microstutter even at triple-digits when framerate does not match refreshrate.

-- For fluidity-priority, you can also reduce refresh rate to the valley of your framerate range, and use a low-latency variant of VSYNC ON such as RTSS Scanline Sync, or the Low Lag VSYNC ON HOWTO, or the new NVIDIA Ultra Low Latency setting.
That can make 100fps run much smoother as long as your refresh rate is configured to the valley of your framerate range (e.g. 100Hz for a 100fps-120fps fuctuation).

-- If you're latency-priority, run at highest Hz and use VSYNC OFF. But you will have to live with the stutters.

-- If you're motionblur-priority, do the fluidity-priority tip AND also turn on Blur Reduction. You can also use Blur Busters Strobe Utility to make Motion Blur Reduction slightly brighter too.

If you want fluctuating frame rate without stutters -- then you need a variable refresh monitor. The refresh rate automatically stays in sync with frame rate -- see http://www.testufo.com/vrr for a demonstration of what FreeSync and G-SYNC can do. It eliminates all those "framedrop stutters" by making framerate changes seamless.

Hi Chief,

Thanks for this. Question, should I put my desktop monitor limit to 100hz for HOWTO: Low-Lag VSYNC ON? Or can I just put in the Radeon Settings.

I'm using this custom resolution when playing.

And for RivaTune:

Code: Select all

[Framerate]
Limit=99918
LimitDenominator=1000
In-game also "PUBG" has In-Game FPS Cap settings, can I used that instead of RivaTune?
