Xl2411z - Defective monitor? It seems stuck to perma 16 bits

Post by tamtam404 » 12 Sep 2014, 22:42

I have a weird issue with my new xl2411z. For some reason the monitor appears to be stuck to 16 bits. For example my windows wallpaper is supposed to be a blue gradient, but I can see the "color circles" where the different blues start and end. If you want to understand what I'm talking about, set your monitor to 16 bits.

By the way, if I manually set the monitor to 16 bits the problem is a lot worse, which means I can see this low bit depth problem even when running at what should be 32 bits. This happen on every pictures, mostly with the blue color (and dark colors in general).

Did I get a defective monitor? My 6 years old LG lcd didn't have this issue.

ALWAYS try a different cable first. Many problems like that are caused by defective cables.
If it happens on another cable, RMA it.
