That review is a piece of crap.
he even has instant mode DISABLED then trying to compare another screen with instant mode ENABLED and claiming the input lag went up. Of course the input lag is higher with oranges to apples settings >_>

Here's a real review of the 2430T.
Notice the input lag hasn't changed one bit: it's 10 ms STILL (instant mode enabled)

Apparently has to do with image quality during some video or image processing. The manual says to leave instant mode disabled if you're using certain video replaying sources. So...I guess turn it off if you're watching movies?

o.O why even both with attempting to make a tn's image quality 5% better? i bet they just add a non instant mode so they can market the "instant mode" which actually just the normal mode

I think you have your tinfoil hat on.
In non instant mode, it feels like a 2233rz panel did. The 2233rz was one of the first 120hz panels out and the early panels were very high quality (made by Samsung's own Korean labs), while later panels were made by a third party vendor which were nowhere near as good. Apparently you could tell which panel you had by entering the hard to enter service menu. But the panel, while having the benefits of gaming at 120hz, had rather high input lag, sort of like an Eizo foris in strobe mode. So I doubt they gimped the panel.

Benq's a rather good company. They support gaming hardcore and their support is MILES better than Asus.
My S switch broke a few days ago, so I called up Benq, and all they wanted was my name, address and panel serial number.

I received a new S-switch the VERY NEXT DAY.

On some games I can really feel the difference with instant mode on/off. It's not a gimmick.

Not only is it not a gimmick, try this:
Make a custom resolution to do the 1500 VT at 120hz with these settings:
1920x1080
48,3 porch
32,5 sync
2080/1500 HorizT/VerTotal
Pixel clock will be 374mhz so you will need the pixel clock patcher.
Save it and run toastyx's restart.zip (you can run the pixel patcher also, before running the restart64 exe file) so you don't have to reboot.

(don't use the defaults of 88/4 porch, 44/5 sync, 2200 horizontal total, or you will have swimming pixels at 396 MHz)
Besides Display Mode not working correctly (display mode doesn't work right anytime the screen is using a vertical total that is too high or low), seems to be ok otherwise, right?

Now turn off Instant mode and see what happens.
