Post by William » 25 Dec 2014, 06:16

Hi,
I just got my new monitor XL2420Z please help me calibrate the colors and also how to use the strobe utility.

The new monitor is connected through DVI as there is another monitor on the HDMI port in my Asus GTX 660

Thanks

Use this in fullscreen for choosing the right settings in the strobe utility (testufo moving photo alien invasion):

For color profile and additional information see here:

The short answer:
Create a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel with a VT of 1350/1500.
Set the crosstalk slider all the way to the left.
Persistence: Moving this to the right increases brightness but also motion blur.

The long answer and additional information:

If you feel dizzy looking at the fast moving UFOs you can decrease their speed in the middle dropdown menu.

I noticed a new problem now, in any preset I see the colors are distorted for example in the shutdown screen shot taken by mobile from IPS monitor you see the full colors but with the other picture you see the blue color distorted

Please advise if I should RMA the monitor or I can adjust the monitor by some settings.

o.o what?
Your last message sounds like EVERY preset has the shutdown blue color distortion problem.
read what you wrote again.

And I really don't know.
You know an IPS monitor usually has a wider color gamut, right (usually covers more of the sRGB color space)

Use aida64's monitor diagnostics test (registered version if you want to get rid of the very annoying watermarks) and go to the color and palette/hue tests, or use "Eizo monitor test" (doesn't require an eizo) and check for blue purity and gradiants.

if those tests pass, then you can safely disregard what you are seeing on the shutdown screen.
