When i used your backup file v4 2720z it suddenly began flashing bright colors (burntest)
So i now hope everything is fine with the display.
Thanks for all your help, now I can finally use the monitor again.

Re: EVERYONE UPDATE TO V4 FIRMWARE IF YOU CAN!! NEW AMA MODE
That mstar unit is great, huh?
It's the official flasher Benq uses in their shops, so it can recover any dead firmware (if the chip isn't electrically blown out or something).
Just to show you how strong the mstar unit is, I intentionally flashed an XL2420Z firmware into an Asus VG248QE with it (I backed up the existing asus firmware first of course), and the Asus was as dead as a doorknob. Even the power button didn't work. Then I flashed the backup of the VG248QE firmware and it booted right up again.
And yes, the burn in test appears automatically (usually it appears if it tries to switch to HDMI input). You can go in the factory menu and turn burn-in to Off.

Re: EVERYONE UPDATE TO V4 FIRMWARE IF YOU CAN!! NEW AMA MODE
Hi,
I also bricked my Xl2411Z after trying to flash an updated firmware. I tried writing to Macronix flash chip "MX25L1605" as well as the "MX25L1605A/MX25L1606E” and both got errors. So now I think both flash modules are screwed up. Can anyone help? Need a copy of MX25L1605 for the XL2411Z. I tried to take a backup though but not sure of its integrity considering i took it right after i tried to write to while it said reading contents I control-c exited before it could say erasing flash and then took a backup. Hope its good but need a second backup if anyone has one?
Thanks

the monitor isn't bricked. You just have to power it off for 10-15 minutes, and use another laptop or desktop (or change from DVI to VGA) to reflash it. It just gets put into failsafe mode.davidm71 wrote:Hi,

You're best off just buying the mstar device yourself.
This is the absolute best way. No risk and easy flash.

Re: EVERYONE UPDATE TO V4 FIRMWARE IF YOU CAN!! NEW AMA MODE
Thank you so much for writing back!!! I made a mistake and tried to flash to the MX25L1605 as opposed to the MX25L1605 A/E as was detailed. Is this a problem?
Thank you!
Thank you!
