Undoing all changes (Strobe Utility, VT1350)

Post by RustinSpencerCohle » 07 Apr 2015, 02:06

Hey. So how do I make sure to set the monitor back in it's original state regarding those things? Is it enough to just delete the profile in toastyX's cru, or should I run the "reset-all.exe" found in it's folder? And what about the BB Tool?

Thing is, I dont use the BR Mode anymore, it's just not satisfying for me because the non-moving picture is not "clear" enough, the colors are totally washed out and there is so little contrast available.

I see the blurring with reduction off, but I like the colors and the crisp image better. I hope in the future I will find a display that has both.

Blur reduction does not hurt the colors or the contrast one bit.
This only happens in Nvidia lightboost mode.
However the 24" monitors DO lose gamma and become washed out at higher refresh rates (the same panel is used in the VG248QE and that suffers from the same problem), so you may need to use Gamma 5 at >100hz refresh rate (regardless of blur reduction) while Gamma 3 works fine at 60 hz. The 2720Z does not suffer from this problem.

Also VT 1500 is better than VT 1350, but you need slightly reduced timings for 120 hz.
You can use VT 1498 at 125 hz for 1000 hz mice, for even better blur reduction smoothness.
(VT 1500 may work on XL2411Z but XL2720Z bugs out at 125 hz; VT 1498 works instead)
What firmware are you using?

Version 4 FW has been released for all Z series (2430T is technically a 'Z' monitor but has the improvements in its v1 firmware).
please update to that for much better blur reduction quality.

If you STILL want to undo everything, run reset-all.exe from toastyX CRU, then use the reset all in the monitor "SYSTEM" menu in the OSD as well as recall all in the picture menu in the OSD.

I use 120hz and have V2 installed.

thanks for the hints. i found out two things: I needed "standard" as preset or preset to save from to a user preset in order to change gamma (fps or rts dont have that option).

then: contrast above 45 actually kills contrast ^^ all colors for example different white/grey tunes look the same.

with those changes it actually looks ok colorwise. it's just not very bright :/ i have it at 3.5ms in the blurbuster tool.

I'm gonna try V4 as soon as I have the power supply of my laptop back which I rented someone ...
